Q&As

Working with people. I spent 8 years in the corporate finance world, but had a love of personal finance that led me to quit my job, pursue an MBA and start from scratch in the wealth management industry.

I am at my best when I am serving others. I love using my financial background in a multitude of client situations and requests.

Lastly, it's watching clients experience the 'ah-ha' moment after we build a plan that lays our their retirement goals and clarifies their financial situation.

I wanted a career where I could achieve three things: Serve others, continue to work in finance and be responsible for my own success. I worked for many years in professional business to business roles, but I was looking to work with clients on a personal basis. I also wanted to take on the risk of starting my own business so that I could have control over who I serve and how.

Let's have a discussion to see if my team and I are the right fit. There are many financial advisors that vary in style and approach, but connection and personal fit is often the most important factor in a long-term advisory relationship. You want to choose an advisor you can work with over the next 30+ years.

In addition, my team is relatively young compared to the average age of advisors in Canada (60). If you're advisor is retiring or nearing retirement, we think it's best to work with a team who will be here for the next 30+ years.

Yes, in Alberta and BC. We have done countless video and phone calls with people looking for a new advisory team.

Almost all interactions have been over the phone or video call. When we need a wet signature, we will courier or hand-deliver the documents for your review.

I primarily use external third party money managers who have consistently performed well, and who focus on minimizing volatility. At Scotia Wealth, we have access to portfolio managers not available to the general public.

The makeup of your portfolio will be determined by your financial plan, as that sets the roadmap for our decisions.

I do not use mutual funds or other high-fee products.

My team and I use our private banking team to assist with specialized lending and tax efficient borrowing strategies to meet your requirements. Have a portfolio and a mortgage? Let's discuss how to change your standard mortgage loan into a interest deductible loan.

Our trust group can assist in estate management and planning for the future. With lawyers on staff, we will work to create an estate plan that meets your needs. Our trust group can also be named as executor and/or trustee to ensure the desires express in your Will are carried out in accordance with your wishes.

Establishing a private or personal charitable foundation is an effective way to engage in philanthropy and create a legacy. We can assist with integrating your philanthropy goals into your financial and estate plan.
