Small and cozy place, friendly service. I had the venison breakfast wraps (tacos) that came on blue corn tortillas. They also have boar breakfast wraps/sandwiches, and elk chili available.

This small restaurant on Bloor West serves all-day Aboriginal (Anishnawbe)-style breakfast. The menu is small but the dishes are really delicious and well done. The veggie omelette is filled with wild rice, grilled mixed veggies (including peppers and zucchini), and black beans. It's very hearty and comes served with side salad. The Breakfast Plate comes with 2 eggs (any style you wish), salad with wild blueberry vinaigrette, wild rice mixed with veggies (super good), and choice of bannock or cornbread. The Sisters Stew is on the sweet side. Drink selection includes sweetgrass tea and Mohawk roasted coffee.Great brunch place serving traditional Indigenous food with healthy ingredients, but sometimes open time is later than the stated open time on the window. This place was amazing! We were visiting the MTA from the states and wanted to check out this place from social media chatter we had seen. The menu was really good and had decent options for all types of diets. Ambiance is super cozy and the staff were super friendly & helpful with explaining menu items. The seating can be cozy if you are there during a busy time, but dont let that deter you. The sweet grass and cedar teas were really good w/ a unique flavor and caffeine free, so the kids also enjoyed it. They also have a small amount of First Nations made art & grocery items for sale and we did not pass on taking home some locally harvested maple syrup made by the Giizihigat Maple Co and coffee roasted by Moccasin Jo, a regional Mohawk owned company. A truly delicious and unique experience! If/when I am in the MTA again, 100% chance I will come back. Definitely worth checking this place out and supporting First Nations folks...their tagline says it all "NishDish: Your Friendly Neighbour Since Always" More...

Nish Dish catered a workshop that I was at recently.  Our group was about 100 people in size.We all felt full, not bloated.  Comfortably full, after one dish.We were open to having a bit more to eat, but there was only a bit left.  Nish Dish made the right amount of food for us all!I'm more vegetarian than any other category, and was so grateful for their wild rice dish, served with 3-sister stew, and a side salad.  Maybe the food was made with kindness - I actually felt more relaxed and at peace after eating the lunch served. They offered two kinds of dessert, a gluten free chocolate cake that was tasty (as was pretty much everything), and a blueberry crumble.Another highlight was the sweetgrass tea.  Warm, non-caffeinated.  It was a pleasure to increase my fluid intake through their sweetgrass tea.The chef and owner, Joel, surprised me - by not only specializing in the food that he makes, but also by leading a morning walk with us and sharing aboriginal stories and insight with a group of us.  Fully knowledgeable, and his intentions behind having Nish Dish are genuine and he's gained my respect.---For non-veg people out there, elk sausage and venison? stew was also served. The food at NishDish was delicious, wholesome and delightful, but even more delightful was the service. The staff was very polite, and didn't rush us even though we stayed past closing. We tried their corn soup with duck and the The Sisters Soup, which had no fussy ingredients, but were fresh and packed with flavour. The 13 moon calendar on the ceiling was the high point (pun intended) of the experience for me. More...
