Today my moms vacation visiting my brother in his home ended, but they surely are the first of many. This has been possible thanks to Lauren, our representative, she was just amazing, you guys can’t imagine all our struggle throughout the last 10 years, until Lauren came in to our lives. My brother is a Canadian citizen many years ago and we always dreamed of visiting him, his house, his friends, his job, his country. We applied more than three times for a tourist visa to accomplish this dream but every attempt was refused. Every time the embassy denied our application my mother was frustrated, felt a hole in her heart and soul and got depressed, it just wasn’t fair she couldn’t be part of his life at his home for vacation. What do you love most about your job?
I started working in immigration in 2014 and at the time, I just loved the idea of the law. The intricacies of more complicated files and really shaping the law into any given case was something I considered a challenge - knowing where we needed to end up and working backwards to a winning strategy. But, after many years, I realized there was so much more than just understanding and applying the law.
Since starting NextGen in 2019, I have grown such a deep appreciation for the relationships with the clients we have been lucky enough to help. Our role is to not only make the immigration experience as smooth as it can be, but to understand that this is a very personal and sometimes difficult process.
We are real people working for real people and that comes across in everything we do at NextGen.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After working at various law firms over the last 9 years I have learned a great deal not just in terms of knowledge but also the client experience. Part of my journey consisted of not just listening to clients' pain points but also understanding them. Being under the umbrella of another company it was not always easy to change how things were done so founding NextGen has allowed me to remove those obstacles to ensure our clients never feel as though they are just another number in the filing system. Every case is important to us, no matter how big or small the retainer is. There is so much more to immigration representation and we are honored to be able to live that reality every day.
Why should our clients choose you?
Choosing the right representation is important. When asked by potential clients whether they need representation or should hire us, I believe the only person that can really make that decision is them. No one needs to hire immigration representation, though, in some cases I would argue it can be very beneficial but it is not a requirement.
Applicants need to choose the representative and/or firm that best suits their needs. Hiring representation should feel good and you shouldn't get buyer's remorse because the value should far exceed the fee that you've paid. You've hired someone to help make this process as easy as it can be. Someone that can bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to what can be a very daunting and stressful process.
