About

I love people. This translate into going the extra mile with my customers. Whether sitting with them at the hospital while handcuffed to the bed, taking a call from a distraught father at the site of his son's suicide, connecting people for a job, or helping someone find supportive housing (that took 3 years), I do what it takes to the best of my abilities and resources.

Dr. Steven Lake is extremely dedicated to his practice and very committed to his clients. I value his approach to counselling that provides a very discreet and caring atmosphere. Dr. Lake is definitely a professional with an inspiring outlook on life that he so willingly and compassionately shares with his clients. A great listener and easy to talk to, Dr. Lake has a gift that many persons in crisis could benefit from. Not to mention...a great sense of humour! More...

Q&As

Helping people create the lives they want. People come to therapy because they are in pain. Helping them transform that pain and moving into a life with more clarity, understanding, and less pain is one of the most satisfying experiences I could ask for.

I've been self-employed my whole adult life (40+ yrs.) so this was just a natural extension of that life long path. I have always had an entrepreneurial bent and I find running a business a perfect reflection of my strengths and weaknesses. It tells me how I need to change and grow in order to become more of who I can be.

Because I have 20+ years of experience, teach counselling at graduate school, and come from the heart when working with people. The motto on the back of my business card states that, "Knowledge liberates and love heals" which sums up my philosophy when working with clients.

Yes. Clients have the choice of phone or Zoom. They also have email and text access. I respond to messages within twenty four hours and bookings are done either through email or by phone.
