Joined KT Group as a Digital Marketing Specialist working remotely from India on Feb 20th, and I have to say, this is by far the worst and most unprofessional experience I have had in an organization throughout the span of 6.
8 years of my career. Post joining, I worked only till 11th of March, and on that very day, the company terminated my services without prior notice upon the advice of Abhinav Hans, Quality Analyst at KT Group. This was done under the pretext of “work not up to standards,” when in fact the real reason was Abhinav’s fear of me being a whistleblower against his ignorance in the domain and ineffective mode of working.
As soon as I joined, I was tasked with herculean objectives such as creating the entire website content for a newly planned IT venture within 3-4 days, along with several other tasks. Even with such near impossible deadlines, I worked around the clock and finished them in time since I was determined to prove my competence. Things took a turn when I started questioning him on why he would want to build the website on PHP and not JavaScript, when PHP is getting outdated and there are more flexible options. I don’t know how he benefited from creating the site on PHP, but he was adamant on doing so. It was soon revealed to me that he didn’t have a fair idea of what he’s doing, and I realized his micromanagement mode of work was to make up for his lack of knowledge in the domain.
I’m not sure how Abhinav made his way to a senior post at KT Group, but I’m sure that he’s neither capable nor equipped to head a digital marketing team. People like Abhinav are the ones who normalize the hiring and firing culture. He’s taking advantage of remote employment and the fact that the company is operating from a different country. I feel pity for the ones who have to work with him.
I summarized here what happened in a span of 20 days because I WAS NOT PAID for my services for half of the days (March 1–11) and also because I don’t want this to happen to anyone else ever again.
