Have been going on/off for years now, even back when they were on Main. I like that they have a stylist for everyone. I personally go for a 50/60s pinup look, and find it so hard to get find people who get that style, but this team all are ACE! My favourite is Shimona, she oozes the pinup vibe and style!My only issue is they no longer take appointments for your free bang trim between cuts, you have to try and pop by day off, which those who try to maintain a fringe, makes it hard if you don't live near the location. Got an awesome cut by Michelle yesterday. Went from quite long to chin length. So it was pretty drastic, but I was really pleased with the result. She really understood my difficult hair. I hate getting cuts, because my hair does not behave the way the stylist thinks it ought to, and usually the stylist doesn't listen when I try to explain this. I've had a series of disappointing hair colours from various salons around town, culminating in one EPIC colour that made me want to give up on my lovely pink locks. A friend recommended EVP to me, but I'll admit, I was hella nervous, because what if it meant dropping a ton of cash, only to hate the hair I was then stuck with for several more months. I emailed last night and luck was on my side because I was able to get in today with Paige. She really LISTENED, and totally empathized with my situation. She made sure to give me the low down dirty truth about what may or may not be possible with my hair in its current state, and then... she got to work. I can't tell you how long it's been since I *loved* my locks. I almost cried. It was such a relief to not only love the colour and cut, but also the price I paid for it. She even recommended a colour I could purchase to keep my pink fresh in between the bigger sessions in the salon. I've been waiting forever to find a stylist I could trust and build rapport with. This review is two years in the making, which means I've yet to find a salon that measures up to East Vanity Parlour. Superficially, this salon is beautiful, retro and cozy. Now for the nitty gritty.Two years ago, Katy (a true expert) gave me the haircut of a lifetime. I had a vision of what I wanted, and although I may not have articulated it well, she understood me to a T. We also had a nice chat about whale watching in Tofino.6 or 7 inches of hair were lobbed off, and for the first time, I didn't miss it. Going from long to short can be a traumatic experience, but I felt liberated stepping out of East Vanity.I really hope Katy still works there because she totally deserves kudos for being able to absorb and execute style requests. I went here for the first time last week.  I needed to have the remnants of colour I had left cut off as I'd decided to let my hair go grey! The stylist who did my hair was Chelsey.  I was so impressed with how she really listened to what I wanted (without trying to convince me to colour my hair!!), managed to get all the dyed stuff cut off, and gave me one of the nicest cuts I've ever hard. I am very satisfied with my haircut from Chelsea at EVP. She was really cool, the rest of the stylists were cool, EVP is really cool, (etc. ) however, I am not, and neither was the hair I came in with. I have fine curly hair and my haircut was suited for someone with coarser and more springy hair. My hair looked a little weird. Chelsea knew what she was doing! I read a bunch of reviews for salons in the Mt. Pleasant area and figured I'd give these gals a shot.  It was easy to book an appointment and when I arrived, they were ready for me.  Emma listened to what I wanted, asked the right questions (how do I regularly do my hair, what am I looking for etc.)  I've got short hair, I want to grow it out but I don't want to look like a doofus through the process.  She explained what she was going to do and what the plan would be through the grow-out process and did it.  Simple as that.  My hair is cute and manageable and I've already booked my next appointment.Thanks Emma! I had been wanting to try EVP for some time now and the opportunity finally arose when they were able to take me in on relatively short notice. I'd been bumping around to various salons trying to find a place that could get the look I was going for, both in terms of colour and cut / style, but most times I wandered away with a less than decent result and having to search for a new salon all over again. I've done hair modeling in the past so I'm always up for something a little bit wacky or outside of the box, but within reason. Enter EVP and the awesome Michelle who not only took the time to listen to my ideas as to what i wanted, but took those ideas, collaborated with me, shared her opinions and amplified my original suggestions into something I hadn't even considered and totally came away loving. She has a great eye for colour and cut and is extremely friendly and personable. From what I could see while I was there, the other hairdressers were doing some amazing work as well. I feel as though I've finally found my perfect salon. I would not only continue going here, but recommend it to anyone looking for an edgy salon that isn't afraid to go above and beyond for their client. I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit. A situation occurred with my regular stylist in which I do not want to get into in detail, however, had to make a last minute appointment here. I came here based on the reviews on Yelp.  I have walked by a few times on the way to my favorite store. It was 40% more expensive than what my regular hair dresser charges me for just the root touch up which took a long time with my hair being black. This is without the hair cut, however, my regular hair dresser cut my hair very very short to begin with, therefore, I was able to wait. The cost didn't include the color application. If I had the whole roots, color and cut it would've costed me 3 times as much as I normally pay, however, I just needed to get the important essentials done. I did give her a heads up over the phone that my roots are naturally black and that it would take two bleach outs which is normal. I also informed her that my hair is neon yellow, cotton candy pink and blue so that there is already some heavy processing done to the hair. It took two bleach outs at 30 volume and then another at 20. There was still some banding that Vana, the awesome lady who served me, was able to get out to some degree without causing breakage. I made the appointment the day before and she was able to squeeze me in last minute the following day during my lunch break which I was very thankful for since I missed the mark for my roots to be bleached.They lean more toward the alternative culture which is appreciated since other hair salons don't get me and or know what to do with my hair simply 'cause it's outside the scope of their training. These guys spoke my hair language.Did I mention how cute the decor of the store is...it totally is. They have some products for sale that focuses on more natural products. Vana was sweet, sociable and we gelled very nicely together. She was very supportive with my hair decisions and was very positive. I loved the music that was played in the background. Michelle is SO awesome! Took me in on short notice and fixed my crazy bright blue dye job. She had different ideas and options for me and was truly excited to find me a fix that I would like. First time I have ever actually LIKED my haircut :DMichelle was the first stylist to ever actually understand that my hair is straight on the bottom layer and curly on the top layer and cut accordingly. She also gave me a good style that matches my non-existent hair-care routine, suits my face and my hair texture. I have had mullets and "triangles of pouf" in the past. My hair is about 13" shorter than it was before (it was stupidly long), feel great, looks good and is neither a triangle of pouf or a mullet.If you have no idea what you want your hair to be and/or have odd hair that doesn't normally get along with hairdressers then I recommend Michelle :) For the first time ever I am planning to go back to the person that did my hair instead of cursing them. :) More...

It took me 2 long years filled with stifled    sob-smiles and hardcore praying in front of many a hairdresser's mirror before I finally found this gem, and the saviour of my hair, Bailey. I'm Asian, so it's always been a struggle for me to find a hairdresser whenever I moved. However, Bailey knew exactly what to do with it after I told her what I wanted. $40 for a wash and expert cut is absolutely worth it in my books. I was in search of a magician that can transform my sad long hair to happy short hair. As usual, I turned to Yelp for guidance to light my way. Lo and behold, I found East Vanity with my price range and good reviews. I took up my courage and reached out...via email. Emails will let me know if these magicians are good with their scissors, as well as customer service AND savvy-ness in technology. Knock out 3 birds with 1 stone, right? My email was responded within 1 business day and *BAM* my appointment is set with Bailey.I was on time for my appointment and Bailey was there to greet me. I showed her a picture of what I have in mind and Bailey can envision the hairdo on me. She was quite excited to cut my massive thick hair to thin short bob. Prior to cutting my hair, Bailey informed me the stages that she will be performing, which I appreciate since then I know what to expect.As the magician worked, we chatted how she enjoyed performing haircut transformations. My hair is thick, long and most stylist can't cut my hair to make it work. I have to say Bailey was one of the best magician I had that can cut my hair to a short hairdo.
