About

I would describe myself as an old school computer guy. I got my first computer at age 11 (I’m 39 years old) and I have been on my computer every second of the day from that point on. Over my career I’ve done residential computer support over the phone, as an on-site computer technician, IT manager, MSP support manager, IT administrator and lots of other key IT roles.

Q&As

What makes a reliable website? Well, a few things, primarily is speed. If your site loads slowly, people will just hit the back button and bounce off your site. The next big one for myself is simplicity and giving website visitors more information about you, your brand and answering any questions that your visitors might have. I also advise customers to not setup things that will annoy users like pop-ups, news litter opt-ins, flashy animations, popup chat windows and everything else that takes away from the user’s experience.

When I’m working on computers one of my first questions will be about backup. I don’t want to ever risk data so that is a big one. I would then ask about your computer's antivirus solutions. The biggest question I can ask someone is what they use their computer for. This will give me information about how a person works or uses their computer. From there I can make recommendations on solutions that will fit my clients’ specific needs.

I really like getting to know my customers, how they work and how I can optimize their processes with technology to make their lives easier. I really like solving problems and helping people anyway I can.

I have been asked about my career as an IT administrator if I fix home computers. Normally I say no, but one day I said yes. I really like the flexibility of helping people with computers. I also need to keep helping people with IT problems as it keeps my skills sharp.

I’m fast, friendly, and experienced. I usually have quiet confidence that engages customers a provides relief from their computer problems or thankfulness when I can take an IT project off someone’s plate and get it resolved quickly. I also provide a few consultations for every customer (I need to know what’s going on before I can make recommendations).

Yes, I would say 95% of my computer work can be done remotely. I’m used to working on computer problems, printing issues, server issues, remote connection issues and everything else over the phone and with little to no user intervention.

Masks, social distancing, remote work, phone over in person and generally not being unsafe.
