Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a healing modality used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). There is growing interest in the West about the use of acupuncture for in pain management, infertility, and general health maintenance. Acupuncture involves inserting very fine, sterile needles into specific points the skin.
At Channels of Wellness, we have gathered some of Canada's most experienced acupuncturists, coupled with advanced meridian diagnosing technology to provide a complete and accurate health assessment based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Our treatment plans are designed specifically to not only relieve the symptoms but also address the root causes of your aliments. Each session is carefully designed to address both your short and long term health requirements.
Herbal Medicine
Tradition Chinese Medicine (TCM) has a rich tradition of using plants to heal illnesses and optimize health. There are hundreds of medicinal herbs currently in use.
Herbal remedies can be given in the form of pills, teas, powders, liquid extracts or syrups. TCM practitioners most often use two or more ingredients to create a balanced, synergistic formulation that is individualized for the patient.
At Channels of Wellness, we only use high quality pharmaceutical grade herbal medicines to ensure herb efficacy and purity.
Cupping
Cupping a technique used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It involves
placing cups with heated air on the skin. Once the air inside cools, the skin
under the cup experiences a suction effect. The cups are usually left on the
body for 5-15 min before being removed.
Cupping draws more blood into an area, which can relieve muscle tension through improved blood flow. It also improves oxygen supply, which aids in optimum function of the body part.
After treatment, the skin under the cup may become bruised and discoloured. It can take up to 7-10 days for the colour to return to normal.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy which involves burning dried
plant materials called “moxa” near the surface of the skin. Moxa is
usually made from dried leaves of Chinese mugwort (Artemesia argyi
or A. vlugaris).
To use moxibustion, moxa is compressed into a stick or pole. This is lit and allowed to smolder. The moxa is held over specific areas, often corresponding to acupuncture points. It may be used in conjunction with acupuncture to further each others’ effectiveness.
Moxibustion can be used to treat arthritis, digestive problems, gynecological and obstetrical conditions, and provide protection against the cold and flu.
At Channels of Wellness, you will enjoy a relaxing environment and expert practitioners to help restore your body to its optimum function. Our moxibustion treatments include the finest herbs from China which are not only highly effective but fragrant.

including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, and joints to
help optimize health. Massage treatments can help develop, maintain,
and improve physical function, including range of motion. Treatments can also help to relieve or prevent symptoms of physical dysfunction, pain, and stress.
Massage therapists use their knowledge of physiology, anatomy and massage techniques to help provide a therapeutic and relaxing experience.
