The focus on customer service, in this case our doggie doggie Bear, has been exceptional. Erik's patience in working with us (and Bear) and providing tips and tricks to help us work with our vibrant and outgoing pooch is the epitome of a excellent trainer. Erik also provides information and checklists via email to us as part of our homework. Bodas K9 Services is your source for ironing out the "ruff" tough in your doggie. More...

Q&As

I love watching dogs reach their full potential and witnessing their bond grow with their handlers.

As a child I always had an overwhelming passion for dogs. I can't remember a time when I didn't have a dog for a companion.

I started off in the law enforcement industry as a dispatcher for emergency services after graduating from Humber College, but never felt fulfilled by my career choice.

My passion for dog training sparked in 2014 when I helped to rehabilitate and built a positive relationship with a German Shepherd that had high levels of reactivity and aggression. I worked hard with several trainers learning how to rehabilitate him, including Sherri Davis, the owner of BRB K9 in Ancaster ON. This experience inspired me to pursue full certification to work with dogs. I graduated from a trainer certificate program in 2017.

Since then, I worked at the kennel for Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides where I was exposed to a variety of different training styles and mentorship by several other trainers. I also worked in a doggy daycare setting where I learned how to look after several dogs at a time. When starting out, I happily helped family and close friends work on their relationship with their dogs and built confidence in myself as a trainer. I have since then worked with clients to help them enhance their relationship with their dogs and encourage them to continue training everyday.

I always incorporate a balanced training method; with tools, lots of treats, love, and praise!

Training isn’t just a program, it is a lifestyle choice!

Dog training isn’t just one lesson and you’re done, it is a lifestyle choice. We pride ourselves in working to teach your dog new tricks, and teach you how to work with your dog so you learn how to continue to train them with confidence. You know what they say, give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime. Any dog can learn new tricks, and behavioural changes if you’re willing to do the things that will inspire this change.

Our approach to training is reward based with balanced techniques, our methods are referred to as the most effective way of training dogs and addressing unwanted behaviours. Balanced training is the most recommended style of training supported by canine organizations with positive results and better for animal welfare. We specialize in balanced training, e-collar training, clicker training, sound aversion training, and relationship building.
