We just happened to come across Azyun when we were driving through Markham and I was pleasantly surprised by this tapa style of Asian fusion. Each dish was reasonable in terms of portions. We ordered 4, but 3 is probably going to be sufficient for most couples. Our favorite dish was the crab bao, and the truffle rice was well seasoned. The skewers were unique and worth a try. Prices were a bit steep, but we were satisfied overall. More...

Came back to try their new menu on Saturday night. Another enjoyable, exquisite meal.  charcoal grilled skewers: pork meatball ( so delicious); fishball & tofu fishball - my favourite was actually the xo sauce-spicy but you wanna taste more. Mama Wong's beef tripe - again the sauce is cooked perfecto!!! Comes with the sliced deep fried mantou to dip the sauce- I feel like I can get 2 orders . Silken tofu- we tried this before but noticed they changed ingredients- the snow pea is cook excellent- not too over cooked and not too undercooked-all ingredients were blended in so well . Grilled pork chop - the presentation of the dish was totally different from what I had pictured- the layout of the dish totally tells me this is not your typical pork chop - it tasted so flavourful  , cooked perfectly-doesn't taste dry at all. Lamb shank curry noodles - I love their curry. Lamb doesn't have the "odd" taste like other restaurant that serve lamb dish. Ended off with the soy creme brûlée- jaw dropping at how they'd turn this popular item with their own creativity. Words cannot describes how much I'd like to thank Justin , Kevin and all the staffs at Azyun for making such an amazing evening to enjoy. More...

So we came back here for a family dinner. As we wanted to introduce this place to our family members. Sidebar, on this Sunday night it was only the head chef and another employee running the show. They did an impeccable job to maintain speed of delivery and food quality. The food tasted great and major kudos to the boss/head chef for doing the job. This was shown in the truffle fried rice. Oh man... flavours and aroma are present. Plus other dishes are yummy also. The other dish that is intriguing was the warm veggie salad dish. It was a romaine lettuce with a smokey sauce. But it was aromatic and not burnt in anyway. They also put in the time and effort to make sure a new menu comes out for different seasons. Kudos! More...

I was super excited to try this restaurant located in Mainstreet Markham! The restaurant isn't too big, but I'd say more of a cute cafe with a modern taste. We got seats pretty quickly when we came in as it did not start getting busy yet. Service was great because when we got the menus, they asked if we've been here before; which we haven't. She told us a brief of what Azyun is,  their popular dishes and how the portions are big enough to share haha. She also insured if we had allergies or not which I realize a lot of restaurants I've been to don't ask.Food didn't take too long to arrive (10-15mins wait). When the food came, out server told us a little about how the food was made and the main ingredients mixed together. We got the Pork Belly Mantao ($12) and their signature Truffle Fried Rice in large ($27); small version is $18. The Pork Belly was very soft and tender, the only complaint was that mines had abit too much oil as it was dripping onto the plate, and all my hands. But other than that, it tasted fantastic. And the rice.. wow! It's really big, and my bf & I couldn't even finish it. The rice was fantastic, I could really taste the hint of mushroom with every bite, and it was so aromatic. Honestly, if I could, I wish I could've stomached the whole rice in one sitting as it was the freshest. Highly recommended! Had a great experience and will definitely come back in the feature :) More...

Reminiscent of Inspire Restaurant which is just around the corner from Azyun this restaurant celebrates Asian fusion flavors with modern and creative dishes. My friend and I came here for dinner and thought most dishes were done quite well and the ingredients felt really fresh. They change their menu on a seasonal basis so some dishes we got may be rotated out. We ordered the truffle fried rice, snow crab rice toast, satay short ribs, and some seasonal cocktails. The truffle fried rice was nice but very subtle in flavor. I could smell a little bit of the truffle but I couldn't really taste it as much as I thought I would be able to. The poached egg added a creamy element to the rice and balanced the textures in the dish. (3.5/5)The snow crab rice toast was basically a shredded snow crab salad on top of small fried rice "toasts". In its components, you would think this would be mediocre as a dish but together they were delicious! The crunch of the toast with the soft and fresh snow crab salad was perfect. Loved this little dish a lot! (4.5/5)And finally the satay short ribs. These had a lot of different flavors going on and was coupled with amazing presentation. However some things worked better than others. There were thin shrimp crackers on top of the dish that didn't really add anything to the dish besides presentation for the sake of presentation. The cuts of short rib were not that generous but the sauce was well concocted and distributed. The addition of small pineapple chunks though was a nice surprise and paired well with the short ribs. A solid dish but missing that "something" to make it extraordinary. (4/5)Overall, a great pick for dinner but Inspire still takes the cake for best fusion restaurant for me. More...

Asian fusion, with a twist on flavours. Service: The waiter was very friendly, offering suggestions and walking us through the menu on restaurant favourites. At times, it was difficult to get his attention as he was near the kitchen for most of the night. Food: The star of the night in my books was the handmade chili noodle. The texture of the noodles felt nice and chewy, and you could tell it was made by hand. It was coated perfectly with a numbing chili sauce, and complimented the shrimp and scallops well. The short rib was also cooked beautifully, but the satay/peanut sauce was a bit of a strange combo with the beef. It was definitely fall-off-the-bone tender, and the potatos, true to their name, were crispy af. The shrimp po boy was a bit of a miss, as the tomatillo salsa didn't pair well with the shrimp, perhaps this item could be recrafted with a creamier sauce as it was a bit too sour/acidic with the shrimp. The taro chips were nice and crispy though!Overall: Great meal with interesting flavours at a fair price, looking forward to changes in the menu in the future! More...

One of my favourite Asian fusion place to go to for small plates! Super cozy environment and has both table/bar style seating. Prepare for your tables to get a little tight if you order lots of small plates! They have the best combination of flavours in each of their dishes - especially the Pork Belly Mantou, it's so tender with a balance between sweet and savoury!! I've tried the smoke duck breast with the flour wrappers and like the Peking duck style approach but with a smokey duck breast as substitute instead. The pickled vegetables add for a nice flavour and texture in the wrap. Another favourite of mine would be their Truffle Fried Rice - variety of mushrooms mixed with truffle, rice, green onions and just the perfect balance between being simple enough yet letting the truffle flavour shine through. To sum it all up, Asian fusion. The food here is pretty good, you get to try a huge variety of unique and blended food. The server was very nice, and very informative. She really took the time to explain each dish so we knew what we were eating. We tried one of the hashes, curry noodles, and the pork belly mantau. The hash is kind of like eating breakfast in 1. It's got a mix of everything, a bit of meat, a runny egg, some potato hash. Everything. And that's exactly what it tastes like, a breakfast pancake with everything in it.The curry noodles are pretty good. It's a creamy curry with a very rich sauce and some mixed seafood and veg. The taste is good, but I understand why it's tapas. It tastes very rich, and you can only eat so much before the taste becomes too much.Out of all the things we tried, I liked the pork belly man tau the most. It's basically pork belly, with lettuce and tomato on a steamed bun. You can't beat the classics. One thing I do regret is not trying the truffle fried rice. The waitress highly recommended it, but paying $20-30 for a meatless fried rice is a hard pill to swallow.Overall it was a very good experience. Lots of new and interesting foods to try, a nice hip atmosphere, good music selection, and overall worth a try. More...

I actually forgot what exactly), truffle fried rice, and lamb ribs.  The tomato was a really good app to increase your appetite. The mantou was OK, not my personal preference. The lamb rib was a miss... was not cooked long enough, at least not off the bone cooked. Also wasn't expecting the flavour to be so similar to the pork belly mantou, so it felt like I was just eating the same flavour. My favourite was the truffle fried rice, it was so good! Super rich flavour yet at the same time, a bit greasy(?) or somehow gave a very filling feeling after the first bowl... Seems like a generous amount of truffle was in it. I had a lovely evening here for my birthday. We were greeted and seated right away and the service remained top-notch for the entire evening. Both the bar and food menus were interesting. We all enjoyed our various cocktails. The dishes are meant for sharing but I'll have to admit, there were some plates I would have liked to keep all for myself, they were so good! The recipes are creative and delicious. Each dish had it's own flair and it was very hard to choose one stand-out dish. I know that the truffle mushroom fried rice is a popular one here but they have so much more going on. The pork belly bar was juicy and sweet/savoury. Truly a comfort food dish. The braised short ribs were tender and intensely flavoured with a peanut sauce on top of crisp roasted potatoes. The fried chicken was addictive with its crisp breading and asian spiced sauce. And the dumplings were just perfect little pockets of heaven. For the most part I would say portions are on the small side for sharing so if you have a larger group, you may want to double the order on dishes like the dumplings or the short ribs. The desserts didn't wow me as much as the other dishes but in all fairness, I'm not a huge fan of desserts. The great thing is that they change up their menu often so you will always be able to try some new creations each time you visit. At Azyun you will see right away that they take a lot of pride and interest in what they do. I highly recommend you check this place out. More...

Although they are fusion because of high prices (just kidding :) The menu does change once a while, which means you won't get tired of coming here! ! Food overall was very good, a lot of unique dishes that I havent seen before. The chef really knows how to cook!LUNCH-Oxtail claypot rice (highly recommend) - this was the bomb!! the oxtail falls off the bone, so much flavour, and the rice soaked with the sauce was absolutely delicious! There's also some duck wings in there. -Fried chicken french toast - this was yummy, the toast was very nicely done.-Crispy wanton chips - this is a nice spin on chips, it's loaded with shredded meat-Pork belly mantou - this was alright. I find BangMi Boy's version to be better. To be fair, I havent found a place that can beat BangMi Boy's buns yet!DINNER-Short Ribs (highly recommend) - delicious!! meat is so tender, and great flavours!-Biang biang noodle (w/ clam) - this is their popular dish, so to my surprise I didnt like it as much as I had expected. The noodles were a bit thick and the sauce I'm not too crazy about. -Fried chicken - this one is good, but not as good as other korean style fried chicken i've had. -Pork jowel skewer - this was alright. not a fan. The one CON of this restaurant is the price. A lot of these dishes are tapas, which mean you need to order min 2 per person which can easily become $30-$40 pp w/o drinks. Chinese inspired tapas done right. By far one of the better restaurants to come out in the Markham area in which boldness and creativity are the centerpiece of this great establishment. Food: Small portions with bold flavours is what I would describe the food from Azyun. The concept behind tapas and share plates is mean't to experience new things while dining with groups. So far everything I have tried has been phenomenal. Menu is quite small but the nice touch is that specials seems to be daily or weekly rotation which is great as there is always a new experience waiting for you. They have great brunch menu as well might I add, although I've only been to it once, I would say overall food quality has been exceptional. First off shout out to Ricky An the restaurant manager. He's a great personality and you can tell he has a love for the food and the service industry. He loves to connect with the guests and he'll leave you to just enjoy the dinner of conversing with a high energy guy is not your vibe. The share plate style of dinner modelled more after tapas, is still something I'm getting used to. The pick 5 for 15 is a great way to start this experience. We got the eggs, chilled spinach, Asian pear salad, chilled noodles, and fried tofu. My own personal preference is that tofu is best when it's the soft (not firm, and silken only for desserts) is the best type of tofu to fry. But these weren't bad. Could use the kick of the spicy salt that more traditional Asian places use but I can see they were going in a different direction and I can respect that. The spinach is simple and it allows you to taste the spinach and is enhanced by the sesame oil. The cold noodles are okay. The eggs perfectly cooked. The Asian pear salad is more of a slaw style interesting, refreshing, and not bad. This was a good preview into just a different experience of Asian food. Case in point: the torched Mackerel. The ponzu is the what makes this marriage so beautiful. Absolutely delicious. From the torch on the fish, the texture of the fish, and in interplay of sweet, tangy, salty is amazing. I would HIGHLY recommend you trying this dish if you like Mackerel. The Biang Biang Noodle came next. These have that funky briny delicious flavour of the clams, and really capture the juice you get when you cook them. The noodle offer texture both in chew and a bit on a bite. The textures and the flavour combinations when you combine he perfect but really have a high potential here. You won't get it on every bite but I think it's the fun of eating is to find a perfect bite and keep searching for how to get back to it. I understand the argument for get a perfect bite each time but your mouth also gets bored when every bite tastes the same (just my opinion). Ricky suggested the Panna Cotta, which he explained isn't getting enough love. He describes it as obscenely jiggly. I hopeful have attached the video to prove it. Great dessert. Please give his Panna Cotta more love. It's not to sweet. Just a great end to a meal. The only knock on this place is the night we came Ricky was the only server/bartender/everything - chef. So there were quite a few tables with dirty dishes. But on a busy night there are often properly staffed and the service here has been exceptional for us tonight. Thanks again Ricky. More...

Smaller than what I expected, otherwise a nice little place for some delicious asian fushion food.Parking is not really an issue for this restaurant as there is a small parking lot a few steps from it. On weekends, especially at night, the lot could easily get full so you'll have to opt for street parking or make a couple of rounds.Going into the restaurant, I was expecting it to be bigger (not sure why), but the size almost resembled that of a small cafe. We had a reservation and the funny thing was the staff would write your name on a small chalk board sign on the table, so once you sit down everyone would know your name lol they do take it away after. The decor is on the darker side, pretty much everything is black or dark coloured; gives off a somewhat sophisticated feel. Staff are very friendly and courteous. They make sure your water is always full and asks a few times if you need anything or how you're enjoying your food. So yes, onto the food. My fave by far is the truffle fried rice which they're pretty known for. It came in a good portion for 2 people or so, but of course a rice fan like myself just finished off the whole thing. It was very flavourful yet not salty, and very fragrant. For some places when they have truffle dishes, the truffle aroma could be too much, but this dish was great. The truffle flavour was nice and light, but you could tell it was still there. The pork belly sandwich was also good, just a bit greasy for my liking. It did melt in your mouth though so for all the pork belly lovers out there give this a try. Last dish are the lamb chops. I'm not a fan of lamb so I can't comment much on this one... except the lamb flavour was pretty apparent. If you like lamb, especially that really lamb taste, then this is the dish for you.Overall a really nice neighborhood restaurant that offers a yummy twist on asian food. Azyun is a play of word. It is pronounced A-Z-yun, as in Asian with a Z and a U.  The name straight up tells us that we would find Asian food with a twist here.  And after a dinner and a lunch visits, I wholeheartedly agree that it is Asian fusion well executed.  It takes the traditional, respects it, adds new ingredients and creativity, and creates something that stands proud on its own while providing a nod to the original. For dinner, the two of us ordered a variety of sides, meat, seafood, and a fried rice.  We were blown away by the flavours.  I could tell the roots of every item, where the chefs borrowed the original forms. Then the chefs layered on new ingredients, flavors, texture contrasts to mesmerize the taste buds.  For example, pulled pork bao was pulled pork with fried onions and pickled cucumbers, which added a layer of acidity, in a plain soft bao.  What nice contrasts of flavours and textures!  I am so glad that the menu changes seasonally.  I can't wait to return to try the new creations. Kindly note that the sides are Asian cold appetizers in their original glories.  Portion is really small. For lunches, the menu is simple and focused on items with carbohydrate to fill you up, such as bao, rice, noodle.  Still tapa style and portion.Pricing is way higher than regular Asian restaurants.  The chefs are worth the price. When we sat down, we were greeted right away and the staff mentioned that it was a new menu! Despite never being here before, I was secretly excited of their new menu, because to me, this probably meant that the menu changed based on the tastes and reviews of other customers. Their menu is comprised of Asian Fusion delicacies (If I were to compare it to Inspire, located beside it, I would say Azyun is closer to having an Asian touch to it). With a wonderful food recommendation from the host who gave us a detailed description of some of the dishes, we tried:TORCHED MACKEREL ($9):Fish with no bones? Sign me up! I'm not a big fan of spitting out bones or accidentally swallowing them through my throat, so the torched mackerel is definitely one of my favourites! It's a grilled fish, with citrus flavours drizzled throughout the fish. It doesn't come in large portions, but it was quite tasty!SATAY BEEF SHORTRIB ($14):This satay beef shortrib has delicious satay sauce, and tea spiced peanuts. Definitely a little different from the ones at Dim Sum! Another delicious dish!BIANG BIANG NOODLE ($16 - regular size)Out of all of the dishes, this was one that my family enjoyed the least. The Biang Biang noodles were giant thick noodles and had clams surrounding it. I think this dish has potential to become very tasty, but I felt like there wasn't enough savoury flavour to it. If the chef decides to change the recipe up a bit, I definitely recommend adding some salt to it!TRUFFLE FRIED RICE ($14 - regular size)Absolute FAVOURITE dish. This is honestly a genius creation. This truffle fried rice dish is a combination of savoury from the salt and garlic, fresh from the tomatoes and mushrooms, surprising from the poached egg, and all around goodness with the touch of truffle. If only I knew how good it really was, I might have tried to go for the $23 Large portion to bring some as leftovers for lunch the next day. Wait, is that what I really see? They have truffled Fried rice for 50% off on Tuesdays?! SIGN ME UP! More...

Azyun Restaurant is such a good addition to Main Street Markham.Small and cozy interior. Just like I am enjoying a gathering at someone house. Table for 2 can get pretty tight if you ordering a lot of dish!Menu is small but ever changing which I do prefer. Just fun to visit often to try out new items.Love the Lamb Ribs and Duck Confit Biang Biang Noodles. Though a little disappointed with Fried Chicken, the chicken itself was moist and tender but the batter just to thick as it was falling off and separate from the piece.I have yet to try their lunch and brunch offering, hopefully soon. Thanks for bringing interesting Asian Fusion cuisine to the hood. A place where the locals can have a drink or 2 and share some yummy food. More...

Food and the service is great. It is crowded on the weekends so make reservations. We really like how everything tastes and the menu keep changing.

We came as a big group for a birthday gathering. Everyone ordered different things, but a couple items definitely stood out. To start, the restaurant was fairly small and relatively quiet/dim. The servers were very attentive and sat us down immediately with water to drink. Now the food: we ordered the pork belly and pork brisket buns along with the truffle rice, fried chicken, crab meat toast and biang biang noodles. The buns were amazing! It was an explosion of flavor that really blew our minds. I would highly recommend them, but do note that they are very heavy - don't get the bun and then the truffle rice together! The truffle rice on the other hand was delicious, but very filling and strong. It came with mushroom pieces and a poached egg. It was good, but nothing mind blowing. I wouldn't recommend getting this + the buns together! The crab meat toast and biang biang noodles were really good - they use fresh crab meat for the toast and an interesting sauce for the noodles. Sort of tastes like fish soy sauce, but delicious. Lastly, the fried chicken - we disliked this the most. It didn't taste like anything special, but it wasn't bad by any means. Just regular fried chicken if that's your thing. Overall, I do recommend Az'yun - just don't over order! More...
