I had SO MUCH fun working with Mary and Neil! I wouldn’t call it work at all. It was like getting together with long-time friends. The second you step into their “office,” they make you feel so welcome and relaxed and the rest of the time flies by in a blur of laughter and jokes (on both sides)…I would HIGHLY recommend Anthes Photography for your photo needs! What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Planning ahead, understanding my camera and photography . I have the skills necessary to work with people - as President of the Penticton Photography Club, and a member of West Kelowna Women of Influence. I owned my own Medical Diagnostic company for 13 years, with up to 10 employees.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
How many people are involved in the shoot? If there are children, what ages are the children? What are the names of the people we will be working with? What groupings of people do you want? If a business portrait, where do you intend to use the photos? ( so we can supply high res photos if necessary). If outdoors, do you have a favourite spot you want the photos done?
For food photography - what dishes will we be photographing? We will need approximately 15 mins between servings of each dish to do the photography .
What do you love most about your job?
Photography period. I love doing landscapes, waterfalls, macro photography, food and wine bottles. I love the challenge of learning new things and learning how to photograph things differently. I truly enjoy working with people and showing them how beautiful they are.
What inspired you to start your own business?
We had been photographing weddings, family portraits and business portraits for friends for quite some time and I thought it would be fun to start our own business. And, it has been.

We know and love photography. We plan ahead to make your photo shoot the best and most fun it can be. Your photos are provided to you in a timely manner.

Family portraits
We enjoy working with families, parent, children, even the family pet. We can do the session either outside , or at your home. Our goal is to make the photography session fun for all those in the photo.
Food Photography
Having professional photographs of your food creations that can be used on menus, websites and social media will increase your sales.
We understand lighting, depth of field and composition - the key factors in mouth watering photos.
We work with your schedule.
We also work with your Chef so that food is prepared in 15 min intervals to ensure that the food creation is as fresh as possible for the photos.
We take food only photos as well as food plates in their environment.
We provide digital files in the sizes you need for either social media or print.
Wine bottle photography
We are happy to do individual wine bottles for listing your wine on your website. Photos will show your wine bottle in it's best light.
We also can do stylized wine bottle(s) photography for websites, advertising, and social media.
Photography classes
We teach you how to use your digital SLR camera so you're in control, not the camera. We teach the basics, aperture priority, shutter priority, white balance, different focus techniques, long exposure, macro photography, and portrait photography and more.
Our class would be outdoors actually using your camera - the best way to learn. You get comfortable with your camera and understand what all the knobs and buttons are for and how to use them.
Notes are included. And if you need help after, you just need to call us.
Business Portraits
Your business portrait is a client first impression of you and your business. Having an up to date professional portrait is vital to make that first impression.
We can do portraits in our studio or outdoors, depending on the impression you want to make and how you want to use your portrait.
We'd love to do your business portrait - and it doesn't hurt!
