Compassion, Hope & Resilience Counselling profile image

Compassion, Hope & Resilience Counselling

I practice a person centred approach to my counselling and I provide a safe, private comfortable space where people can express themselves without fear or judgment. My counselling sessions are 60 minutes in duration, this is longer than the standard 50 minutes and provides clients enough time to settle in and not feel rushed. I have had an extensive nursing career and managed an acute neurosurgical unit. This intensive work has equipped me to bear witness to the pain and suffering of others on a deep level. I work transparently within an ethical framework based on trust, to create a strong and equal relationship between my clients and myself. I believe this solid foundation allows for effective therapy to take place. I am interested in ‘what’s happened to you’ not, ‘what’s wrong with you.’

What do you love most about your job?

I love witnessing the transformation of my clients as they embark on their therapy journey with me.
It is truly heartening to observe people gain greater insight and self awareness as they grow through therapy and develop a sense of renewed optimism.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have enjoyed a richly rewarding life, I’ve been fortunate to have had an extensive nursing career, raised a family and navigated my own adversity.
Working for myself provides me with autonomy and I take pride in negotiating the challenges posed by starting and expanding my own business and making a difference in the lives of the clients I work with.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am a mature woman, I’ve lived a full life, I understand the difficulties of raising a family, I have worked within the health service, and I’m familiar with trauma, illness, disability and the impact of such on mental health.

I believe in the inherent strength and resilience of the human spirit to overcome enormous difficulties and pain.
I have the skills, my own ‘lived through’ life experience and empathy to connect at a deep level with people who are struggling.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, although I provide 1 hour face to face counselling sessions within a clinic, I also provide hourly online Zoom counselling support to people nationally within Australia.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I am fully vaccinated against Covid and I am careful and take precautions to meet my clients within a safe, clean and well ventilated clinic, I wear a mask and I keep a safe distance from my clients.
