Supporting clients Australia-wide via online or phone sessions, with limited in-person sessions available in Melbourne.
My approach goes beyond just talking about problems. Together we work with the deeper unconscious patterns driving your reactions, helping you learn how to pause, respond differently, and create lasting change in a practical and supportive way.
Sessions are warm, personalised, practical, and focused on helping you create real change — not just temporary relief.
If you’re tired of surviving and ready to start feeling calmer, clearer, and more like yourself again, I’d love to help.

I provide online counselling and telehealth therapy for individuals and couples across Australia.
This service offers a gentle grounding space to pause, reflect, and gain clarity —where challenges feel less overwhelming, new possibilities emerge, and the energy to move forward begins to grow.
Our work together starts with truly understanding you: your story, your needs, your struggles, your hopes, and your dreams—as well as the barriers that may be preventing you from living the life you want or becoming the person you wish to be.
I draw on a range of strengths-based, evidence-informed, and creative approaches, including Internal Family Systems, CBT-informed strategies, ACT principles, and person-centred counselling. These approaches help refresh old patterns, spark new perspectives, and gently open doors to change.
This is a place of Becoming - whole, strong and authentically you.

I passionately specialise in Relationship-Marriage Counselling Australia wide to reflect the extensive training and relationship/life experiences I've had. Irrespective of your current challenge, I offer my clients a holistic and honest approach, which consistently achieves quality results.
Having invested 28 years on my own personal development journey covering many different modalities, I am of the belief that quality advice comes best from those who have had similar experiences or challenges to our own and successfully overcome them.
Relationships: I believe a healthy relationship includes qualities such as love, appreciation, trust, attraction, communication and growth.
Years ago I previously had 2 long term relationships lasting between 9 - 12 years each which included children and one marriage.
These different relationship experiences have put me in a great position of having direct understanding and empathy of the challenges that can come with relationships, so you can be assured you are working with a relationship counsellor who really get's it.
I have been trained in relationship fundamentals that heavily influence a relationship such as attachment theory/attachment styles, drama triangle, John Gottman's Science of love - the Relationship Institute, No more conflict, Healthy communication, Love languages, and Developing more intimacy.
I am extremely passionate about couples consciously working on their challenges and ideally resolving them.
I also support couples who are considering a trial separation, or are going through a break up and/or post break up.
I support the following (and more) relevant area’s that can come up as challenges in relationships such as communication, intimacy, infidelity, money, health challenges, porn, ADHD, cultural differences, sexual orientation, sex compatibility, death of a loved one, parenting, shared/co parenting, blended family, job/business issue's, extended family, friendships, drug/alcohol concerns, depression, anxiety, and trauma related issue's.
I am personally passionate about health, emotional intelligence, body movement, personal development, business, the environment and travel.
I walk my own talk by having a quality relationship, and a solid foundation in my life with a focus on honesty, integrity, love, and a balanced connection with myself (emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical).
Additional topics related to relationship counselling:
Parenting: I have 3 kids (15-22 years old), which I've raised in co-parenting. For many years I successfully shared the care of my kids e.g. 50/50, or as the primary carer. I am accustomed to a variety of teenager specific challenges, and how important it is for parents to develop their parenting styles to best support their teens, and themselves. If the parents have separated, it is really important that they participate in healthy co-parenting for the best interests of the kids.
Business: I have started a number of businesses previously to relationship counselling (which were environment focused/environmental products).
I have studied profiling so that clients I support make deliberate choices that are in alignment with their natural talents. By doing this they experience fulfilment and joy as they are in flow, rather than doing something they don't like.
Personal and professional development I have participated in:
-I have completed at least 15 live in retreat programmes, typically for 1-2 weeks each, focused on childhood wounding, negative patterns, limitations, fear, reducing stress/anxiety, relationships, healthy masculine and feminine relating, parenting, addressing narcissistic people, survival in the bush, and overall physical, intellectual, spiritual and emotional development. Techniques such as meditation, breathwork, catharsis, healings, diads, ecstatic dance, journaling, exercise, clean diet and group work were included.
-I completed a highly intensive 2 year counselling programme, with the objective for participants to address any personal issue's and live as the best version of themselves, so they can then offer quality integrity based counselling to other's (I believe a therapist should only give professional guidance if they have, or are addressing their own personal challenges/issue's)
-Diploma in relationship counselling.
-John Gottman relationship Institute certification.
-Emotion focused therapy training.
-Cognitive behaviour therapy training.
-Many business and success focused workshops.
-Management and sales training.
-Wealth dynamics entrepreneur/career profiling and wealth masters retreats.
-I have been mentored by Naomi Simson (Red Balloon), Carolyn Creswell (Carman's fine foods), Justin Cameron (Surfstitch), Roger Hamilton (Wealth Dynamics), Justin Dry (Vinomofo) and John Cash (PPS Hairwear and NAK).
-Mens groups for many years.
-I have personally experienced individual counselling, couples counselling and mediation for co-parenting.
-I've been through the divorce process including financial settlement, and self representation through the family court process to achieve consent orders that supported my children's best interests.
-I have experienced and successfully recovered from adrenal fatigue.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or caught in the same emotional patterns — even though you’re trying to move forward? You don’t have to keep figuring this out on your own.
I work with people who are often high-functioning on the outside, but internally feel:
• anxious or constantly overthinking
• emotionally drained or reactive
• stuck in relationship patterns
• unsure how to break the cycle
I’m Rebecca Small, a counsellor and psychotherapist, and I take a practical but deeper approach to therapy.
That means we don’t just talk about what’s happening — we work to understand why it’s happening and give you tools to shift it.
My work focuses on:
• regulating your nervous system
• identifying and rewiring core beliefs
• improving communication and boundaries
• helping you feel more grounded, confident, and in control
I bring together a background in psychology, counselling, coaching, and health to support lasting, meaningful change — not just short-term relief.
Together, we can work on:
✔ Anxiety, overthinking, and emotional overwhelm
✔ Relationship challenges and communication issues
✔ Trauma and unresolved emotional patterns
✔ Self-doubt, people-pleasing, and perfectionism
✔ Building confidence, boundaries, and self-trust
✔ Depression, stress, and feeling stuck
I offer a space that is warm, grounded, and non-judgemental — but also focused and forward-moving. I will support you, but I will also gently guide and challenge you so you don’t stay stuck in the same loops.
I currently have limited availability but always try to offer appointments within the same week.
Sessions are $165 for 50 minutes via telehealth.
The easiest next step is to book a short connection call so we can discuss what’s going on for you and see if we’re the right fit: https://calendly.com/rebeccasmall/connection-call
