Witt Consulting have undertaken geotechnical site investigations for Sydney CBD basements and pavement investigations for the M4 Motorway. We have significant experience in the use of geotechnical finite element software and have undertaken designs of many structures for road, rail and building projects. Our extensive experience and pragmatic approach to design often allow us to find design optimisation opportunities that have slipped through the comprehensive internal review process of larger consultancies.

Temporary works involves the design of temporary structures to facilitate the construction of permanent structures. Witt Consulting have extensive experience in providing the cost and time efficient designs for temporary structures that can range from very simple to extremely complicated.

Some of the projects we have worked on that involved temporary works are M4E, M4 Motorway, Barangaroo, Airport East Precinct and Airport North Precinct and Sydney Light Rail. Please see the Projects tab for more information on these projects.

Witt Consulting provide structural investigations, documentation and materials testing services for heritage and adaptive re-use projects in the Sydney CBD and Sydney metro area. We primarily provide our services to projects involving the commercial redevelopment and refurbishment of heritage structures where the structural engineering documentation is incomplete or requires verification. We have the capabilities to undertake a significant number of tests on heritage materials in house. We can undertake non destructive testing including concrete cover scanning and ground penetrating radar (GPR) scanning, steel hardness testing. We also have the capacity to undertake concrete, masonry and rock compression testing. An example of a project we have provided heritage services on is the $2 billion Wynyard Place redevelopment.

We work with strata management companies on a variety of projects, some examples are:

- Assessment of proposed remediation of a retaining wall damaged by a fig tree in Rose Bay,
- Basement inspection and remediation recommendation in Bondi,
- Inspection of a sinkhole in Neutral Bay,
- Remediation of concrete capping falling off a sea wall in Elizabeth Bay.

We undertake a wide variety of work for commercial sites including; Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, Dilapidation Reports.

Witt Consulting have engaged in a wide range of design works and are very familiar with the requirements of the ‘Australian Standards’ for design and construction. Areas of expertise include:

- Design of steel structures
- Design of concrete structures
- Investigation of historical structures
- Foundation design, design beams (lintels, joints, girders), retaining walls, load distribution and redistribution
- Sampling and testing of structural elements

Witt Consulting have undertaken work on a range of infrastructure projects. We have assisted in many aspects of infrastructure engineering from retaining walls to light pole footings. Witt Consulting have worked on a range of rail projects over the course of its lifetime. We are able to provide the following services:

- Rail formation investigation,
- Settlement analysis of rail embankments,
- Temporary works.

Witt Consulting have recently expanded our scope of engineering and the services we deliver with a small testing laboratory on site. These new services include:

- Compressive strength testing for concrete, masonry, rock and grout,
- Concrete carbonation depth,
- Concrete density,
- Soil particle size distribution,

Witt Consulting have drilled for geotechnical site investigations and pavement investigations at many sites across Sydney using both our truck mounted drill and hand augers. We have the following capabilities:

- Pavement coring investigations,
- Truck mounted tungsten carbide solid flight auger with the ability to drill to a depth of 9m,
- Drilling in all soil conditions, including sand, clays, extremely low to low strength shale and sandstone,
- Hand augering,
- Dynamic Cone Penetration and Perth Sant Penetrometer testing, and
- Logging of boreholes.
