About

I work from home as well as working alongside several other professional counsellors in an office setting. The company is small, personal, supportive and professional. We collaborate, negotiate, evaluate the current situation and challenges and make a plan together for a way forward that is agreeable to all.

Q&As

I enjoy meeting people and finding ways to connect with each client so that they are comfortable, relaxed and feeling safe, heard and not judged.

It is quite magical to hear people's stories of their achievements and their challenges and to find ways together, collaborating, to make plans for changes that clients want.

I am honoured to get to see, hear and experience others in their sadness, confusion, disappointment, anger and pain expressions. It is a joy when we can work out how to untangle tangled messes and how to appreciate what sometimes is totally unseen that may help the situations clients find themselves in.

I have always wanted to be my own boss and to set up a counselling business that has my unique style and ways of being as its signature state.

I am well trained with post graduate qualifications in two very different modalities (psychodynamic psychotherapy and narrative/collaborative modalities). I have Australian Counselling Association membership and professional backup as well as a highly recommended supervisor who I meet with regularly. Judy Boyland checks that I am counselling safely and ethically with all my clients. I have had nearly 10 years of counselling experience with qualifications and letters of recommendation to view should clients ask for that.

Besides all formal training, qualifications and counselling experience, as a person I am trustworthy, gentle, understanding and compassionate. When we come to a counsellor, we want to feel heard and acknowledged. When we tell our stories of sorrow, pain, confusion or fury, we want help managing those big emotions and assistance to find the right pathway out and into better life situations. I can do this and assist you so that you find the courage and energy to improve your coping mechanisms in difficult circumstances.

I can provide remote and online counselling via Zoom or Skype or any other platform that you might wish.

For face-to-face clients, I request answers to 4 basic Covid-19 questions and clients sign and date that form before being permitted entrance to my counselling rooms. They sign a statement agreeing to update me should any information on their Covid declaration form change in the future.

I have hand sanitizers in both the entrance way and in the counselling room itself.

I maintain 1.5 meters distancing at all times prior to, during and after counselling sessions.

I am qualified to counsel children, teenagers, couples, individuals and families needing support and assistance with issues relating to anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, body and sexual orientations concerns, disordered eating, grief and loss counselling.
