About

I've been building websites as a freelancer for twenty years now, designing and implementing websites for small businesses, both within WA and interstate.

I like to think what sets me apart from others in my field is that I don't assume my clients necessarily have any in-depth knowledge of websites, and I provide clear guidance and advice in plain English.

Q&As

A great website should be eye-catching and unique. It should look fantastic whether viewed on a desktop or a smartphone, or any other type of device else for that matter. If the website is for a business, it should provide some insight into what the business is actually about and ideally address some of the common questions prospective customers are likely to have.

Ideally, a client will have some written content relating to their business - that's the one thing I can't really provide. If they have a logo, photos or colour scheme etc. that's also helpful, although these are all aspects of a project that I can cater for if necessary. Also, if a client has something specific in mind, or perhaps some websites that they particularly like the look of, that can provide me with more of an idea of what they're after.

I very much enjoy the creative aspect of my job. Putting together artwork, photos etc., along with the client's content to create an eye-catching professional website is very rewarding. And getting positive feedback from customers is always a good feeling.

Becoming a parent! Running my own business from home enabled me to spend more time with my family when my children were little and create more of a work/life balance. Twenty years later I'm still doing it, I enjoy dealing directly with customers and overseeing the a project in its entirety from start to finish. I really couldn't imagine working for someone else now.

I'm very exacting with my work and go to great pains to deliver an end-product that the customer will be more than happy with. Also, I take the time to explain things clearly without using acronyms and otherwise blinding customers with science. I believe my work represents very good value.

Lastly, I'm very pleasant to deal with - although perhaps that's for others to say!

The vast majority of my business is conducted online, usually via email with the occasional phone call. I usually create a hidden 'under development' folder on the client's webspace so they can review what progress I've made and get back to me with any feedback.

Almost all of my interactions with customers are online, so for once Covid-19 doesn't represent a problem.
