What do you love most about your job?
I love to support people. I am inspired by them, by the wisdom they bring, by how truly amazing that they are. It is a joy to be able to support people in the way that I do.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Others have always looked to me for wise counsel. After almost 30 years in the corporate sector, I became the 'go to' person for everyone to discuss personal challenges, so this has been something I have offered to others for many years, albeit not formally. So attending uni to gain my Masters & supervision qualifications was just a step towards making counselling a formal offering.
Why should our clients choose you?
As someone who is seeking support, it is imperative to feel into what the person is offering: to look at their photo, to feel if this person might offer something, a way forward, a next step in your own evolution. I know that who I am may not suit everyone, depending upon where they are at in their life, but I feel it is critical to feel what is there to feel when you connect with someone, when you read about them, and view their photo. What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I offer online sessions for those that may be concerned about any type of transmission of illness.
Counselling
A true counsellor understands that we each innately hold wisdom and a true way forward for ourselves deep inside; that we are the only ones that can change ourselves from within. My role as a counsellor is then to support you to access this inner wisdom by reflecting to you perhaps a different way of being, with yourself and with others. I am here to reflect the truth of a situation, perhaps offering a new way to be, whilst offering you the space to just be you. I'm also your biggest cheerleader, holding your hand whilst you take your steps back to a way of being with yourself. You are the only one that can change your life, and it is you that knows you best.
Psychotherapy
A Psychotherapist is not the same as a Psychologist or a Psychiatrist. As a Psychotherapist, I use a combination of evidence-based therapies and interventions to support with many different mental health challenges, however, I am unable to diagnose mental illness. The therapies I most often use are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Somatic therapy, and others.
Couples Counselling
Couples counselling is the holding of a non-judgemental, non-biased space: a way of bringing two people together in a space where they can openly and simply discuss the issues they may be facing. It is never about taking sides or right or wrong, but about what is actually getting in the way of our living in transparency and intimacy with one another in a way that deepens our love for each other each and every day.
Supervision
Supervision is a service offering to support counsellors and other professionals with guidance and support for their own practice. Laura is registered with the Australian College of Supervisors.
Coaching & Health Coaching
Laura is a certified Coach and Health Coach. Health Coaching focuses more on health and well-being, whilst coaching can focus on a vast array of topics. Coaching (as well as counselling) squarely puts the focus of responsibility on you, as only you can change yourself. We are multi-faceted beings, and our health is not just about diet and exercise! Our overall health is a unique combination of factors and we each require support in varying ways. For some, it may be a focus on self-care; it's whatever presents in the moment. Coaching is about simultaneously being your biggest cheerleader, whilst holding you accountable to the goals you have set for yourself. It is about being a sounding board, someone that can challenge and support you with breaking through any patterns of behaviour that might be holding you back from living the fullest life you can be living. We all can be living a full and majestic life, and coaching can provide the support for you to simply be YOU.
