Our wedding day was one of the most important days of our lives, and we had high hopes for the photography services of Lavana Dancer.
Unfortunately, our expectations were not met, and we feel disheartened by the outcome of our photographs.
We found the images did not reflect our anticipated level of quality, and the style of editing was not in line with our personal tastes. We noticed a contrast in the images captured by our guests which, to us, appeared to capture the day differently.
While we understand that art is subjective, and others' experiences may vary, we found the direction and selection of the final gallery did not align with our vision for the day.
This feedback is our personal perspective, meant to share our experience and not to detract from the efforts of the photographer. For future clients, we recommend clarifying your expectations and looking through extensive portfolios to ensure alignment with your desired photography style.

Lavana did an AMAZING job of our family photos. She picked a perfect location and directed everyone beautifully. She was especially skilled at getting the kids to engage. In 30 minutes, she managed to get perfect portraits of our big group (15 people) as well as couple and family shots of the individual families. She made a big effort to capture behind the scenes as well and some of these shots are incredible. We have done family portrait shots with companies that charge thousands for the individual shots. Lavana’s photos were just as good if not better and we get to own all the shots. I would definitely recommend getting Lavana to do your family photos or portraits. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Having fun and being organised. I usually set an intention to have a good time with my clients and make it super fun for us all. And to impress us with how beautifully the photo's turn out and how easy it is to collaborate. I always shoot with two cameras and have extra batteries and memory cards. I also turn up early and scout locations so we can get the most out of our session.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I'd love to know what your intention is. The who/when/where/why/what's of it all. And when it's a wedding booking I always love hearing about your romance, how you met, how the proposal happened. I'm a hopeful romantic which is why weddings is one of my favourite things to shoot.
What do you love most about your job?
I love soooooo many things about my job. The adventures! Exploring new places, meeting new faces. Making new friends and associates. Using awesome equipment. I could go on and on about what I love about it.
What inspired you to start your own business?
In 2014 I was working overseas photographing families in the French Ski fields having the time of my life. Out of the blue an email came from my beloved Mumma, she had been diagnosed with cancer. I came back to Australia to nurse her and she sadly passed away. I fell into a deep depression and found myself unemployed for a few months. I applied for the government New Enterprise Incentive Scheme that supports small business start up. I got accepted and they paid for A Cert III in Small Business Management. I was going to start a lead generation company. Through the course I realised photography was an avenue worth pursuing because I had experience photographing products for Choice Magazine and photographing families for a portrait studio. I'd always wanted to have my own photography business and freelance but didn't know where to start. This was my start. Fast forward eight years later I have had over 400 new clients and have over 100 five star reviews online!!!
