We live in a 5 bedroom house in Cammeray which we bought in 2010. It has a great outlook and structure, but over time became in need of cosmetic updating. Deborah was fabulous at helping us identify the right colours to paint the whole house (both outside and inside), the best options to replace the carpets and update the lighting, and a beautiful new counter top that has really transformed our kitchen. She also help us pick some new furniture to update our interiors. We had just downsized from our large family house to a small Northern Beaches cottage where none of our furnishings suited or fit. We needed help fast as there was only 2 months before Christmas. We contacted Deborah and a week after our first consultation a plan was in place: a style we craved, mood board and colour scheme sorted. Tradesmen were soon called in to remodel the small kitchen and lounge and a guided shopping spree for essential furniture organized. By Christmas we were settled and feeling very much at home. I am going through a phase of updating/upgrading the interiors of my apartment and I needed some advice on a good flow to my living room in particular.
Deb understood my needs and made a couple of subtle changes (adjusted placement of lounge chairs) within the first 15 minutes of us chatting and what a difference it made! I could feel the room just open up and be more inviting.
She researched and suggested to introduce some colour into the furnishings that I hadn't considered previously -- I am so glad I went with it. It's just added a different mood to the room. What’s your interior design process?
I start with an intial briefing to gain an in depth understanding of my clients goals and budget. From there I develop a concept and we have a second meeting to discuss the broad approach. After this the details of colours, furniture and/or fittings are created and the plans/specifications are completed. Finally there is a third meeting where the total scheme is presented and the client decides how to proceed. This can mean that they take the details and purchase themselves or often they use my trade accounts to get better pricing.
Which interior design styles can you cater for?
I can adapt my skills to any style and budget. I have over 20 years experience in both residential and commercial interior design.
What do you love most about your job?
What I love best about my job is bringing joy to people - there is a wonderful sense of satisfaction when the final pieces arrive and the home or office looks just like the concept we worked on together. I also love the sourcing process and finding amazing pieces to make each project unique.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I like to be able to work when I am feeling most creative and working on the projects that I find fulfilling. Having my own business gives me that freedom.
Why should our clients choose you?
I have been working as an interior designer for over 20 years. I am told I have a great sense of style and can walk into a room and immediately know what the possibilities are and how to bring it to life.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I prefer working face to face with clients for at least an initial meeting so I can see the space and gain an understanding of light and shadow. However if a client wants me to work purely from floor plans I am happy to do that. We can arrange a zoom meeting to discuss and share screens.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
My protocol is always to wear a mask to meetings unless the client says that they are happy for me not to wear one. I also keep sanitiser in the car and use it regularly.
Interior Design
This service includes identifying all items required for the scheme as well as 3D images and concept boards. This will enable you easily visualise the end result.
Interior Styling
This service includes sourcing furniture, window treatments, art and accessories as well as advice on placement on site. Sourcing the perfect pieces can transform a room from ordinary to extraordinary.
Colour Consulting
This service includes specifying a palette of colours and finishes, A4 size samples and detailed specifications for the painter. Details will include all surfaces to be painted – ceiling, walls skirting boards, architraves and any metal or timber finishes.
