After 15 years of public speaking, I offer a unique lived experience perspective on life and success. I was raised in child institutions until the age of 19. With no formative teachings or understanding of how to integrate into society, I made a disaster of my life. At the age of 35, I exited society for 10 years and lived in a rain Forrest by myself. after my re-entry into society and at the age of 47, I learned to read and write. I won a pathway into university and completed an undergraduate in sociology and community. In 2016, I graduated with a PhD. In 2018, Penguin Random House published my first book 'Out of the forest' which became a best seller, 'Better than Happiness' was published in 2022. My TEDx talk has had over 1 million views and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) has released 3 documentaries on my life and I have be in conversation with Richard Fidler. In 2022, I was awarded an Order of Australia Medial for my work with vulnerable people. I have expertise in many areas of life and business. After 15 years as an academic and researcher, I am now the CEO of a Public Benevolent Organisation.
