I offer a tailor-made plan that is perfect for dogs of all ages that need to improve skills such as recall, reactivity, or calmness on walks among many other skills.

Dog training and behaviourism is a completely unregulated profession in the UK and with so many conflicting opinions, training styles and information out there - finding The Compassionate Canine was such a relief!
Maria is a wonderful human being and wonderful dog trainer. She is as empathetic and patient with the owner as she is with the dog. So very understanding of the harmonious balance that must be struck between the wellbeing of the dog and the wellbeing of the owner in light of demanding and dynamic personal circumstances and lifestyles.
As she is a positive reinforcement trainer I fully support her methods and her services are very reasonably priced! She has experience working with reactive dogs so when my puppy became suddenly reactive at 8 months old, I felt at a loss until I began working with her. I can message her between sessions to ask questions and get advice which is such a comfort.
Whether your dog has behavioural issues or not, the dog training journey is a long one but having someone like Maria at your side makes it much more enjoyable and constructive for all involved.

What do you love most about your job?
I love meeting familes with varying needs and helping them achieve their goals so they can truely enjoy their time with their dogs
What inspired you to start your own business?
After getting my rescue who struggled to adjust to family life I threw myself into helping him have a better quality of life that wasn't ruled completely by his fears and prey drive. During this journey, I fell in love with the science of training.
Then after working in pet care for a London-based company, I found my love for canine care, paired with my degree in psychology Dog Training became my passion and I find it so rewarding to help dogs overcome their hurdles and begin to truly enjoy their time out and about.

My priority is to ensure that you get the most out of our time together so I pride myself on my accessibility and ability to tailor our time together so that any issues that may arise can be addressed promptly.

1-2-1 training walks
These help your dog have calm but fun walks where they can learn valuble skills to make your time with your dog more enjoyable in the future. We put the behviours in place and then show you how to use them so that we can achieve your goals and provide consistency for your dog.
Pet-Sitting
We offer live in pet sitting for when you go on holiday for our established clients so that they can stay in their home with someone they know and you trust. While we are staying at your house we can do basic house work to ensure that you come home to a nice clean house.
Training
I offer a variety of training techniques to help your dog cope and develop skills while they are out on walks. I know that every one has different needs that is why one of my fundamental principles is to work closely with the family so that, as a team, we are able to help you achieve your goals through a tailored plan.
