About

As a Personal Trainer, my approach to physical fitness is based on three primary factors - efficient use of resources, program personalization, and freedom from the big-box gym environment.
I want to help you get in terrific shape without having to spend thousands of dollars on a home-gym or hundreds of dollars per year on a membership to a crowded gym, or following some generic program written by an "

Paul Bruce is and has been my trainer for many years now at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre. He is a fantastic, friendly, charismatic and approachable person.

Through his training he has helped me become more physically fit. In doing so he has imparted fantastic life advice which I have applied to my life. Life advice which addressed a broad array of life challenges.

Paul is also an empathetic, sympathetic and caring friend. I highly recommend him as a life coach.

Paul has really pushed me to think outside the box, from the very start. He helped me to vocalize the dreams I had for myself and overcome the limiting thought patterns I didn't even realize were preventing me from going for my goals. Working together, we were able to create a plan of specific things I would like to achieve and a concrete set of steps for how to achieve each of these milestones. Paul is thoughtful in his discussion and very supportive and flexible to work with me when I am trying to juggle my hectic life. Working with him also helped me to understand the power my physical wellbeing had over my mood and motivation and how I shouldn't neglect it when trying to get my life back on track. More...

Q&As

To help you achieve your fitness goals, we will always start with consideration of the fundamental principles that determine results in whatever your goals are (body composition, performance, etc.). We will then take a close look at lifestyle factors - diet, sleep, fitness history, daily stressors, etc. - that can have an impact (positive or negative) on your ability to achieve your desired results.
With this information, we will follow a flexible programming approach, that allows both consistency and variability when necessary, so you neither get bored nor distracted.

The secret to getting the body of your dreams, truly, is finding the right "why". Too often we get caught up chasing goals that don't truly satisfy us or align with who we are, and this hardly ever leads to satisfying results. The desire to look thin/muscular, or be able to bench press 350 pounds, starts and ends there. But what if your "why" was deeper, more personal?

Clients who have clear visions of what they want their lives to be like often get the best physiques.
Do you want to be vibrant and energetic enough to improve your work productivity?
Do you want to be able to maintain strength as you age so you can play with your children and grandchildren?
Do you want to be an advocate for animals by achieving a great physique as a vegan?
Do you want to know you could physically protect a loved one in danger?

Having a goal of the person you want to be - not simply what you want others to think of you - will keep you motivated enough to train consistently and with focus, so you can get your best results quicker than you would otherwise. And the body of your dreams will come as a result.

What I love most about personal training is witnessing the many positive effects physical fitness can have on a client's life. There is the direct physical benefit - every step feels lighter, each movement easier, pain lessened, energy increased...
But there are also many psychological benefits - increased self-understanding, confidence in smashing past conceived limits, improved focus and productivity in work and family life, discipline to make better decisions that serve you better...

This is why I find my job to be so important. If you don't have your physical health, you have very little else. If you DO have your physical health, you gain so much more than that.

I've been working at a big box gym since 2015. But when the recent pandemic hit, I saw many people in need of a fitness experience that was both private and easily accessible. My clients and I began training outdoors at a local calisthenics playground, as well as online during days of poor weather, using nothing but gymnastics rings and heavy-duty resistance bands, and they got TERRIFIC results. They really seemed to thrive in the freedom of this new approach to their fitness, no longer confined to the environment of the gym. I saw their results translate immensely to their everyday life, and injury likelihood greatly reduced. This motivated me to start this business under such a model that would allow clients the intimacy of one-on-one training, as well as the ease of integrating and translating this type of training into their daily life.

Through my many years working as a personal trainer with individuals of varying personalities, abilities, and walks of life, it became clear that the biggest obstacles getting in the way of one's progress in nearly any domain in life is one's fundamental beliefs they hold about themselves, other people, and their larger reality. Those clients who were willing to discuss these matters more deeply, and thus have our coaching relationship broaden past weekly exercise sessions, have seen the greatest progress in their fitness, along with many other areas of their life. They've become more assertive at work, more loving with their families, more secure in themselves. These experiences with clients drove me to become a licensed Life Coach, to help people in ways that have much deeper ramifications and grow the person in ways that radiate to every area of life.

I hope you choose me to coach through your personal development journey because, honestly, I give a crap about you. I want you to achieve you physical and spiritual potential in a way that best suits your natural design, and removes the unnecessary distractions, like expensive resources, social comparison, or rigid dogma.
As both a Certified Personal Trainer and licensed Life Coach, I have much experience working with individuals with special needs and mental health struggles. I don't want to ignore your past and present struggles, but understand them, and use that information to help you take better control of your health journey, both the physical and the mental.

I provide online sessions via Zoom (or other platform of your choice).

These sessions work better than you may expect, because you can do them from the comfort of your home, and integrate this training seamlessly into your daily schedule.
By practising these new skills in a place you feel comfortable in, you will be able to eliminate other stresses and anxieties, and focus only on your body in that present moment.

I do not require clients to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. I keep open communication with clients about any sort of symptoms we may have, and modify our training schedule/modality accordingly (perhaps switching from in-person to online when necessary).

Online sessions completely remove any potential concern of passing on COVID-19.
