About

I’ve been a professional Career and Executive coach now for over twenty years, and have coached over a thousand professionals.

Here’s how I got here.

As VP of Career Services at a Philadelphia area college, I gained the skills and insights that led me to open a career coaching practice.

Q&As

When I first worked with a career coach, many years ago, I made a successful career transition. But more importantly, I felt like I got my life back! I love seeing my clients have that experience. That's my favorite thing about my work.

Two things:
1. I love helping people with their careers. I've done it instinctively throughout my working life, even when I was NOT a coach!
2. I am a Dad to an adult son with Autism. That inspired me to include working with autistic adults, too.

I think my clients find that one of my better assets is my ability to intuit challenges, and articulate them, even when my clients can't find the words. I also like to laugh, and use plain-talk, including the occasional cuss word! My clients have told me they appreciate that. Finally, I have lived a little: I've worked as an executive in private industry, not-for-profit, and higher education. I've relocated for work, managed people, grown a career (several times!) and survived the loss of a job. I've also raised kids, dealt with stress and anxiety, and overcome health challenges. While every person's experience is unique to them, my clients have told me that my breath of experience is frequently instructive to them, and it's certainly a source of empathy for me. Oh, and I LOVE what I do!

Most of my coaching is done via ZOOM, particularly since COVID. If you are local (I'm in Wayne, PA) I am happy to meet at my office in my home.

I did not meet face-to-face with clients during Covid-19, and exclusively used ZOOM. Now I do have a couple of clients I meet with F2F, but most are still by ZOOM.

Services

Do you feel stuck in your current job? Unhappy, not moving forward – and yet unable to see a way out. Or maybe you are frustrated by a fruitless job search…sending resumes for dozens of job openings, but getting no response. Or interviewing but failing to win a job offer. Something isn’t working but you don’t know what.

If any or all of these apply to you, then you may benefit by working with a skilled Career Coach.

Career Coaching provides useful confidential support in planning and managing your career — while keeping one eye squarely on the quality of your life. Just as sports teams use coaches to organize and bring out the best in the athletes, professionals and entrepreneurs benefit from the skills, perspective and guidance of a skilled career coach.

Need to find a first job, a new job, or a brand-new career? Could you use a guide to the complex world of social expectations in the workplace? I have over 20 years of experience helping people fulfill their career goals. I also have a specialized interest in helping people overcome the unique challenges associated with High Functioning Autism through autism career counseling.

We can work via ZOOM, text/chat, or face-to-face to help you clarify what you want in your career, and craft a plan to make it happen. In a series of confidential meetings, we will develop your ability to:

* Manage your time effectively. We’ll help you create systems to organize your day and maintain a manageable schedule, deal with interruptions, and stay focused.
* Handle stress. Learn how to mediate conflict, manage anger, overcome anxiety, handle frustration, and stay away from sensory overload.
* Communicate and collaborate. From creating great rapport with co-workers to navigating subtle nonverbal cues, we’ll help you enjoy mutually beneficial relationships with your colleagues.
* Organize an effective job search. Planning and implementing a successful job search can seem overwhelming. We can break it down and coach you week-to-week to ensure your success — and even make it a little more fun.
* Interview with Confidence. You’ll be ready to face — and conquer — any interview. We’ll prepare you thoroughly and teach you how to negotiate once you do get the offer.

Do you feel drained by difficult people, conversations, and relationships? Are you looking to make positive changes to teams? Your influence? Are you feeling there’s no balance in work/life?

If you are ready to take an honest look inside, and fuel your growth with learning, support, insights and guidance, you’re ready for Executive Coaching.

Executive coaching is confidential professional coaching with a focus on developing leadership skills — the skills needed to drive change (including your own behaviors), manage complexity, and build top performing teams. And we will be sure to keep one eye on you, and what you need to thrive, including stress management, personal wellness, and work/life balance.
