Katrina ji is really good dance instructor. I have taken quite a few Bhangra classes from her. I am not a good dancer, it's just not in me. But she has been an very patient and good teacher. Thinking of new clever ways to make different bhangra moves more intuitive. Take things slow and fast based on how students are doing. After couple of sessions with her, I feel much more confident dancing. And Katrina ji is a great person as well. I met Katrina at thе Rising Starts Dance Showcase that was organized as a charity event. It was a wonderful event for a great cause! !! Katrina, aside from being an amazing teacher, is one of the most kind hearted and down to earth people I ve met!!! She is a great professional with many years of experience and she loves what she does!!! Katrina and her love of dance, music and the Bollywood culture has been an inspiration. I have attended two workshops she has hosted at Culture Shakti and have taken several private and semi-private lessons with her. My dance troupe has confidently performed a crowd pleasing Bollywood set multiple times that we learned from Katrina. I have studied with Katrina Ji and Culture Shakti for three years now, and I absolutely love the experience. The teaching is top-notch, the energy very enthusiastic, and the people are supportive. I had mobility issues when I started, and through learning the various dance forms, I have healed my body. My self-esteem has improved a great deal through embracing the challenge. I starteddancimg with Katrina 5 yrs ago as a flashmob partcipant and have been taking classes with her ever since. She teaches a variety of dance styles at all levels and makes the classes fun, I was also attracted to the philosophy behind the former name "Skin Deep Dance" that all are welcome to learn and express their inner selves through dance in a safe space.

The space is gorgeous, inspiring, & well ventilated--which is always a plus in a dance studio!

The classes offered cover a wide variety of styles which is super fun. With so many classes (ATS, Bhangra , & Flamenco), you can choose to delve deeply into one style or embellish your own form with elements from other traditions.

In this day and age of shameful political rhetoric which blatantly embraces racism, misogyny, body shaming, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, islamophobia, etc. , Culture Shakti is a welcoming sanctuary for dance arts and fitness rooted in the strengths of diversity and multi-culturalism, traditions, fusions, and evolutions. It's a non-judgmental safe space for body-acceptance, a welcoming environment for members of the LGBTQ+ community, and a spring board for those who wish to take a deep dive into various world dance forms.

Access to so many different dance styles under one roof was nearly impossible to find in Seattle until not so many years ago. Katrina Ji has put her blood, sweat, and hard work into making Culture Shakti Studio a reality. This is the best dance studio in Seattle!! My daughter took Bollywood summer camp classes here two years in a row and she loved it so much! I was so amazed how much they learned and even performed a full show at the end. Offering a variety of dance styles, there is no limit to Katrina's knowledge base and skills as both a performer and instructor. My son thoroughly enjoyed taking Bollywood classes with Katrina for many years. She is supportive, kind, professional and an amazing dancer. He really matured as a dancer under her tutelage and had lots of fun doing so. In addition to taking classes at Culture Shakti, he was also in her classes at a homeschool program so I have had an opportunity to see Katrina work with dozens of youth and adults of many skill levels and backgrounds.
