Came here for date night for drinks and munchies but ended up eating a second dinner. The restaurant serves a pre-fixe menu which we will have to try next time we are here but the bar menu was really good. We had the house made pasta, hanger steak, salad and Brussels sprouts. We had read a phenomenal review in a magazine so we knew we had to come here when we were in Spokane and it exceeded our expectations! We found street parking easily on a Friday, and there is also a large lot behind the restaurant if street parking wasn't available. We were a party of 3 (2 adults and a 14 year old) and we chose the pre fix dinner that was shorter because of the 14 year old. By the end of it, ALL 3 of us were wishing we had done the longer meal because it was SO delicious! We were full as well but loved every course. This was our second time dining at Gander and they did not disappoint. We came in for the Restaurant Week menu and everything was just perfect. The Winter Salad was light and flavorful and the Casarecce was absolutely delicious. The scallops were perfectly seared. The small bites in between were all experiences in trying things we don't normally eat, such as smoked eel and roe, and were so glad that we did. The bartender made me a fantastic classic Old Fashioned, and then suggested a different take on an Old Fashioned with Amaretto which was delicious. Wow! Inland Restaurant Week is the time to try this beautiful establishment. A little taste of their menu items at an affordable price will keep you wanting to come back for more (and we will! ). Excellent service is only one of the things you'll get. The food was delicious and beautifully plated. Amazing flavor combinations made me wish I could have had more, the scallops were my absolute favorite and if it hadn't been bad manners the plate would have been worth licking. Honestly.... The most extraordinary meal we have ever had. This was an EXPERIENCE. Gander & Ryegrass is the undiscovered Michelin star restaurant in Spokane (even better than one we have been to)! Wow, wow, wow. What a pleasant surprise and unbelievable dining experience. I was consistently reminded of watching the TV Show "Iron Chef" as each course of the Chef's Marathon was presented. Amazing flavors, artful plating, and knowledgable service on each course just built the whole experience into something magical. I had several Oh My God experiences, but I think a favorite was the duck liver mousse with the hazelnut surprise inside, The folks sitting next to us had opted for the half marathon, and by our reactions, I could tell they realized they should have gone all in. Beautiful wine list and unique and inventive craft cocktails. The full wine pairing was a bit too much alcohol for me (six 4 oz glasses), but my server artfully made accomodation for me and skillfully paired a couple of the courses with the perfect wine.The service was PERFECT, and I mean PERFECT. Everyone was very friendly and dedicated to presenting the restaurant in the best light consistent with the experience that defines the place. Nailed it. Read the reviews and gave it a try-didn't disappoint. I was there on a business trip and and hopped in just after 5 for a bite. I didn't realize it was a 6 course meal, and that was more than I was looking for, so I went to the bar for a la carte service. Not a good experience this evening. Group dinner, not understanding that the menu was prix fixe with 2 options- full menu or half. The trouble arose when we were confused about whether we all had to do the full of 1 wanted the full. When politely asking for clarification, the extremely rude waitress said "again?!" The menu presented at the table appeared to offer multiple appetizer and main options, but after further inquiry, we were notified at the chef would pick which options to serve from the menu and we would be unable to choose any dishes at all. When determining that our group (some with dietary restrictions) would not be comfortable with not being able to choose any dishes (although again- the menu appeared to have options)- we decided to leave before ordering-the waitress and host were very, very rude even after we offered to pay for the waters and broth that had been served. I don't recommend this restaurant unless your party is ready to eat all the same meal, without any choice of dishes. More...

I went here to celebrate my birthday with four other couples. They were very accommodating to our large party of 10.  The food was very good a little pricey but very good. It's a little confusing how to order when some of us wanted the marathon meal and others wanted the three course meal and for these options the menu is a little limited for dinner time. I have been to this restaurant TWICE and highly recommend!!!  My husband is a retired Master Chef, well versed in how a successful five star restaurant should not only be ran, but how food should be presented and taste! !!!  Both times (June visit and July), he was delighted to find such a gem in Spokane!!!  The three course meals both times were distinctly different than the previous, beautiful to receive and delicious to the pallet! We were received well at time of reservations, never rushed through our dinners/drinks and acknowledged with smiles as we left. Wonderful staff both times and a keeper of a bartender. My drink of choice is a mixed bourbon, not one received was weak, but instead perfectly strong down the throat as it should be. Gander & Ryegrass---- bravo for choosing Spokane, love the Aunties Bookstore neighboring and inside the eclectic decor and plants.  We look forward to another visit!!!!! More...

Spectacular! My husband and I wanted a special dining experience for our anniversary and we were very impressed. You can taste the freshness in every bite. My taste buds were very pleased with the texture and flavors. We joked that we were going to have to get a slice of pizza after because of the small portions we saw on Instagram but the joke was on us. We took leftovers home! The ambience was great but don't get too distracted by the humor in the local art pieces. It was a comforting touch. I highly recommend doing the chefs marathon with the sommelier pairing. I do suggest using a ride share or getting a DD though. If you're a picky eater you may not love the chefs marathon but if you're feeling spontaneous it won't disappoint.
