What makes a great website?
One that meets the business requirements of the client. It's the boring answer, but too many sites are launched without answering these key questions:
What do you need the website to do?
What do customers want from your website?
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What are the key requirements of your site? What functions must it carry out, both for you as a business and your customers? E.g. an online store for selling products, an information resource, or a lead generation system.
Is this a redesign of an exiting site, or a completely new one?
Will we be using existing brand guidelines, or creating something new?
Do you have final say on the design, or will other stakeholders be involved?
What is the timescale and budget for the job?
Why should our clients choose you?
Skills and experience. I've worked in this field since 1995, on both the design and technical side of jobs.
