What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
The secret is to photograph the light in the right way. Naturally the subject is centre stage, but light is what makes an image and it's the key to unlocking the fullest potential.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Among a hundred different questions would be 'how do you want to display these pictures', 'how are you hoping the images will feel' and 'do you have a set venue and date in mind', which allows me then to do the necessary research into the job - estimating the position of the sun and windows relative to shoot locations.
What do you love most about your job?
It gives me total fulfilment to know clients love their images. Simply put, photography is something I feel I'm meant to be doing. No matter the shoot, I feel as light as a feather and I'm usually having at least as good a time as my clients!
What inspired you to start your own business?
The drudgery of a 9-5 job that was ultimately going nowhere nudged me into self-employment - and pro photography. I've always been an avid snapper anyway, and talented with it, but the time came in 2016 when I really had to leave the regulation job behind and go solo. The thrill of creating something that will be loved by clients is what I work for.
