It was very disappointing to do a first call/enquiery. I won’t go into details as it’s all public, but not a caring place based on my experience.

From someone who trained as a therapist under their guidance from October 2021 - April 2022, I didn't even end up completing the course. I will explain reasons here. I have had time to think whether I even wanted to write this review. I feel it is my duty to call out places such as this which are damaging people's mental health further. This place was always in the 'process of being accredited' since its inception, which means it's not even a course recognised by the BACP. This is coming from someone who understands exactly what it is to resolve trauma with actual honesty, and authenticity. Stop feeling tension due to trauma in your body, etc. It is imperative to help better yourself, and make a better life for yourself. I feel people should stay away from this place. I came from every issue under the sun including depression, abuse, addiction, abandonment issues, and you name it, and seemingly have come mostly out the other side (I still have some small way to go, but I am getting there to a point where I feel no fear of anything now). I understand it is advised that any individual should not be training to become a counsellor if they have had a bereavement in 2 years prior to taking any training. I was not asked that in my interview which was conducted over zoom. The interview was a short process lasting around 20 mins. Didn't really feel as if I was properly vetted. You can understand as a result how many counsellors eventually end up becoming qualified. Yet these individuals still have a lacking in self awareness, and having not resolved their issues to a point where it doesn't affect them on even a subconscious level. It is important for people who are in a vulnerable state to not be affected further/ damaged more. The course itself had some good, and occasionally useful content such as the Maslows Heirachy, and introduction in Freuds teaching. However, the amount of anxiety the other trainees clearly had was too much to even try and concentrate on the course material. One of the other trainees even said that he found the triads (where we were split into groups and you had the therapist, the client, and an observer) we were made to do was better than his actual therapist (Are you actually serious, what does that say about your therapist?). There were examples of a lot of people pleasing stuff going on here, this was just the one that actually tipped me to the point to stop studying with the Awareness Centre. I felt their fishbowl technique (this is where you have the client, and therapist sitting in the middle and everyone else is watching) is a fantastic thing to push people out of their comfort zone. Other than this, I felt there was a lot of just trying to push along the point (and trying desperately to not hurt people's feelings), and not getting to the actual root cause of the issue which is actually how a therapist can actually make a difference in people's lives. A lot of people cannot handle honesty (from a good place with good intentions), but it is imperative for your personal growth. There was lack of awareness at this place from all areas (quite ironic given the name). When asked if I would come back on the course in October of 2022 for a January start, I decided to try and finish what I had started but said I had an issue paying, so was wondering if I could split the payment over the three months I had left (which were set up as monthly payments anyway up until that point). If the company actually cared about my training at all, there should have been no problem agreeing, but they wanted all the money up front, and when I said I was struggling due to the cost of living crisis, they basically said I had to wait until I paid the full amount to resume my training. I understand this review will be damaging for your company, but with all due respect you should be more responsible with how you conduct yourselves with relation to people's mental health. If you say that 'you cannot find record of me studying there', I will be posting screenshots of email correspondence. More...

I had sessions with Colette when I was going through an extremely difficult time in my life. I had given up all hope and was close to suicide.
The sessions with Colette gave me new angles with which to view my dire situation, and to be honest once hope set in, i realised it was not as terrible as I had first thought.
She helped me to look at my life anew and forge a new path, from which I am now, the happiest I have ever been.
I am totally grateful. I owe you so much.

I had my teenage daughter come here and I have to say I was really disappointed. The therapist we had was inexperienced and had no clue how to help my daughter, she would come out of sessions worse than when she went in and felt like there was no hope. The therapist we had even if qualified had no where near enough experience to deal with such a delicate situation. I feel there is a reason this place charges less than other places and that’s because they use trainees and they should make this very clear. A full and thorough profile of each of the therapists should be on the website, showing qualifications and years in practice. I was new and naive when starting this journey. I may get a response from the centre stating they have no record of me but that’s because I do not share the same surname as my daughter. This centre may have been great for some but for my daughter it definitely was not. More...

Q&As

I love counselling and coaching, as there is nothing that feels better than helping clients find the solutions to what might be holding them back from living the life they desire. It is often a journey of both highs and lows and it can be difficult to realise that sometimes change takes time, and just by taking little baby steps change will be possible.

Having worked as a counsellor and a coach for many years within GPs, Social Care and currently with professional with work related stress, it was always my personal passion to have my own business one day. During the COVID lockdown I decided to follow my heart and I set up Colette Life Solutions which initially started with me counselling and coaching clients who were struggling with having a healthy lifestyle and loneliness as a result of the pandemic. This has enabled to launch my business working evenings and on at the weekend.

I create a warm, safe and confidential space which is non-judgmental, to enable clients to explore what might be going on for them.

It is important that you to choose the right counsellor for you, I will therefore have an initial free call with you to hear a bit more about the problem and share with you what I offer. If you choose me I promise that I will listen to you, give empathy and warmth as I genuinely care for people and really love helping them to improve their lives. As a integrative counsellor and NLP practitioner I am open to trying different techniques, if something hasn't worked we just try something else, it's all about supporting you to get your desired outcome. Everyone is unique so the same thing doesn't work for everyone. What is important is that you are clear about the outcome that you want, if you are not clear I can do values based work with you to help you, once you are clear, I can support you to figure out the steps to get you there, and help you put them into place.

Helping you is so important to me as I had low self esteem, low self confidence, low self worth and anxiety for many years. As a result I know first hand how these sort of problems can really affect a persons quality life and prevents them from having, being, doing and feeling how they want. Through NLP I was able to change my life and I want to share what I have learnt with you.

Online sessions are held from the safety of your own home using skype or zoom. I will be able to guide step by step in how to set up. I provide on line counselling during the evenings detailed below:
Monday - 7pm - 10pm
Wednesday - 7pm - 10pm
Friday - 7pm - 10pm
Saturday - 4pm - 7pm
Initial free session - 30 minutes - phone/zoom/skype
Assessment - 90 minutes - zoom/skype best
Further counselling sessions - 50 minutes - zoom/skype best
Further NLP coaching sessions - 60- 90 minutes - zoom/skype best

I am currently working on line and this will be where I will mainly be working for the time being. I hope to start working from a safe office space later in the year in Clapham, London (Saturday morning only).

Services

Have you been feeling tearful and sadness and losing interest in things you enjoyed before. In many cases feeling low and unhappy can improve by making changes to your life such as getting better sleep, starting eating healthy, walking and movement, meditation, mindfulness or talking to a close friends. If these feelings do not improve over a period of time this may be a sign of depression.

Symptoms of depression can include:
a continuous low mood or sadness
feeling hopeless and helpless
feeling tearful
feeling irritable and intolerant of others
Lacking motivation or interest
not getting any enjoyment out of life
having suicidal thoughts or thoughts of harming yourself.

If this describes how you are feeling I may be able to help.

Experiencing occasional anxiety is a normal part of life, in many cases it can be mild due to an event that is causing you stress such as a interview or giving a presentation. However, if you are having intense, excessive and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations which are difficult to control, or are out of proportion to the actual situation and tend to last a long time, then counselling or NLP therapy may help.
If you feel that:
*Anxiety is taking over your life.
*You are having severe panic attack regularly
*Struggling to mix with others in socially and this is causing you to feel isolated or lonely.

I may be able to help you.

Are you being the person who you want to be?
Do you have in your life what you want to have?
Are you living the life that you desire ?
Are you feeling how you want to feel?
Or do you feel something is missing?

You may have a dream or a goal that you have been trying to achieve for years. However, nothing seems to be working and you are feeling confused, frustrated and stuck. This is usually a sign that your subconscious mind is not in aligment with the things that you want, and is likely due to limiting beliefs preventing you from achieving your goals.

Breakthrough Coaching is a one-to-one coaching designed to help you become the very best version of yourself.

You will be able to work towards whatever goals or outcomes you desire to create in your life.

NLP coaching will enable you to learn more about yourself and what you need to do to overcome any obstacles that are in your way. I will work with you to overcome challenges and achieve your goals more easily. You will be able to have a better understanding of any limiting beliefs and begin the process to remove these, so that you are able to have, do, feel or be who you want to be.

I am particular passionate about working with women who are in perimenopause and menopause. As you approach middle age you may notice that you have increased stress, anxiety or fear. This is usually due to changes in hormones such as decreasing levels of estrogen or progesterone and some of the symptoms you are having as a result. You may also be worrying more about life or feeling that you are not being who you want to be or you maybe unhappy with how you look and feel. You may be finding it difficult to understand what is happening to you or even express how you are feeling to family and friend. For some women it may also cause problems with the relationship with their partner. If you feel that you are developing anxiety or stress as you go through perimenopause or menopause speaking to someone may help.

I am also interested in working with you if you have any other health issues that is affecting your mental health.

Are you feeling unable to value yourself?
Are your opinions about yourself based on experiences from your childhood and past?
Are these causing you to view yourself as negative?

Your self-esteem can affect you in many areas of your life such as:
*You might be unable to like and value yourself as a person.
*It might be preventing you from feeling confident and recognising your strength.
* It might be causing you to have feelings of not being good enough and being critical of yourself in all areas of your life
*It might be preventing you from loving yourself and accepting that it is ok for others to treat you badly.

If you feel that this describes what you are going through now, then may be able to help.

Is your relationship with food out of control and are you unhappy with how you look and feel. Are you feeling trapped and in a cycle of continous dieting and feeling like a failure, guilty or full of shame for not achieving your goal. Is it causing you to stop living and having fun. Do you have low self esteem and depression as result of your weight or feeling obsessed with your body and being the perfect shape.

My ‘SLIM’ programme is a process of healing and transformation that gets to the root causes of your emotional eating by looking at Self Awareness, Lifestyle, Inner Love and Mindset (SLIM)

You will be able to discover how to not see food as the enemy, increase self esteem and confidence, enjoy your relationship with your self and other and feel a inner strength that you can do this.

All relationships have ups and downs whether it be with a partner, parent, child or friend.
