5 starts isn't enough for the amount Jim helped guide and supported me during a very unhappy period of my life. Teaching me techniques that I would use daily (and still do) to help physically and emotionally get through this period. James offered nothing but empathy, compassion and a safe place to be. Understanding if I needed to vent or knowing when to move me on to new discussion and next step in my healing. I can't emphasise enough how much Jim helped me turn from a very sad place, to be able to face the problems ahead. I never felt pressured to do sessions and know that when needed he would be there to support. More...

I worked with James over a number of weeks.
He provided me with some great tools to support and help me work through the way I was feeling.
Tools that are easy to remember and can be used outside of a therapy setting.
You'll automatically feel relaxed and at ease around James, which really helps to build up a trusting therapy relationship.
He has a way of making you understand and make sense of why you are feeling the way you do. I found that once I'd made sense of some of my thought patterns, I was able to feel less anxious and generally happier in myself.

What do you love most about your job?
Supporting and enabling others is an enormous privilege to me. I deeply enjoy getting to know my clients and seeing them grow over time as they put into practice the effective methods and techniques I offer. Working with clients gives me a wonderful sense of meaning and purpose, which comes from providing the right environment for others to let go of pain and experience greater self-accpetance. I believe that we are a product of our experiences, our thoughts and beliefs, and our habits and behevaiours. If we are not happy in our lives, then we can work towards changing these attrubutes to enable ourselves to flourish.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After I left a 26-year career in the armed forces, I wanted to work for myself using the expertise I had developed supporting soldiers and their families in managing a huge range of personal problems. Private practice as a counselor enables me to work with people all over the country from all walks of life in finding their own resolutions to the difficulties life has presented them with. Why would I want to do anything else?
Why should our clients choose you?
Supporting others has been my primary professional focus for over 18 years and I have endevoured to keep learning and practicing my craft to ensure that it is of the highest quality and beneficial to those who offer me the privilege of working with them. I have developed a broad evidence-based skillset containing an abundance of tools to help you acheive what you need out of your life. I believe that the right relationship in therapy is essential for growth and healing, so will offer my utmost by bringing a genuineness to each session, leaving you feeling valued and heard. I want nothing more than to help my clients acheive a more fulfilled life and together we will.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I specialise in remote work, having completed specific professional training in online deliveries. I have practiced remote counseling and coaching for over 18 years via telephone and more recently using video chat. I prefer to see your face if possible and can use various platforms, such as WhatsApp, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
If I'm seeing you face-to-face then COVID-19 restrictions for Wales apply. If we are able to meet at my practice, I am required to check that you have received the vaccinations via an in date COVID pass.
Acceptance Commitment Therapy
Learning to accept who and where we are in our lives is the first step towards positive change. So many of us develop a strong need to be something more than we actually are, or what we are actually experiencing in our lives. This creates pain and suffering as we long for something other than what we have. Once we develop acceptance of who we are, where we are, and what we've been through along the pathway of our lives, then we can consider the values we hold and the authentic ways in which we want to flourish.
Intigrative Therapy
You are unique and the therapy you experience should match with your individual presentation and experiences. Approaches to therapy can be different depending on what you are faced with and so having the right tools to heal, grow, and flourish is important. This evidence-based approach can be effective in helping with trauma, depression, anxiety, anger management, relationship issues, self-esteem, and the broadest range of presenting problems that people face in their lives.
