Ross Cann and the team at A4 have done an excellent job designing a new tennis and paddle tennis facility for the Yacht Club of which I am Commodore. They have showed great creativity in addressing the Members' needs for the facility and great sensitivity to, and patience with, the very deliberate nature of Club approval processes. I engaged A4 Architecture to produce a site plan and renderings for a very substantial, multimillion dollar, mixed use project.
The design has been shared with a dozen or more people and unanimous opinion supports a 5-star rating for this firm!
The process of creating the design was well organized. There was significant participation and interaction by the design team to ensure my vision was transformed into a tangible document. I have worked with other architecture firms on other large scale projects, and A4's approach and results are certainly the best I've seen in 30 years of project development.

Groundswell Designs
We recently held a review of architectural concepts for the renovation of an athletic facility, and we invited A4 to participate, based on the company's knowledge base and prior experience. Not only were we delighted with A4's work, but the company's concept, presentation and illustrative materials were able to capture and inspire the imagination of our audience members. A4's renovation concept was forward-thinking, but in a way that was respectful of the history and culture of the surrounding area. The design was beautifully detailed, but also creatively addressed the macro needs of the entire site. Outstanding design work aside, the company's customer service has been well above par; Ross Cann has been accessible before, during and after the charette to answer questions and provide additional support. We love creating or transforming buildings to be beautiful, functional and long-lasting additions to the communities where they are built.
What inspired you to start your own business?
A4 Architecture was founded in 2004 to meet the architectural needs of discerning clients in RI, MA, CT and NY states.
Since then, we have helped design hundreds of projects and won many awards for our work, but the award we appreciate the most is the good opinion and heartfelt recommendations of our past customers.
Why should our clients choose you?
A4 Architecture, in addition to being skilled, award-winning designers, bring several special skills to the table. The Founding Principal, Ross Cann, hold honors degrees from Yale, Cambridge and Columbia Universities bringing a million dollar's worth of education to his customers. We were early adopter of Building Information Modeling (BIM) which allows us to produce life-like animations of the projects when they are still in design. We are able to work at a distance as we are a firm fully versed in advanced computer design and technology, teleconferencing and other remote work capabilities.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
When in-person meetings are required, we are fully masked up and can do the work at a proper physical distance with all subsequent communication conducted electronically and remotely.
