Server wasnt especially friendly. He wasnt nasty- just terse i guess? and painfully slow. We waited a loooonnnng time for everything. for water, for glasses with ice (we did byo), for menus, to place our order, to get our order, and yes - to pay our bill. It was strange too because there was only 1 other table with people in it. yes, they had take-out orders going, but still, maybe thats what they focus on? And the food was quite good, but we ordered a variety appetizer plate and didnt even get a description what each item was (and we knew by then not to wait until we saw the waiter again - we just ate it). Ordered through uber eats. It's supposed to a lamb wrap but it's drowned in sauce and inedible. They threw mess together and wrapped it up. Less sauce and more care in preparation will go a long way. This looks nothing like what it pictured on the app. Wont order from here again. More...

Hate to give this a 3 star because the food was very good. The service was very slow (never filled water) and the atmosphere was not very inviting, basic tables and chairs no frills. Confirmed my order at 7:59p. I called 3x, no answer. They never answer their phones. Heaven forbid they hire. Then they cancel the order at 8:21p. Uber Eats, Google Map, and their website say open til 9. They boast it too... Horrible service for food that I only order bc my girlfriend likes it. I think it's average at best, which is why they only get a few orders a year out of me. Now they'll get zero. I'll update this review with suggestions of better Mediterranean spots in the area. This place has amazing food. I started ordering from them a while back just because I wanted to try something different than pizza, and I’ve kind of fallen in love with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food ever since. There’s definitely some unique flavors/spices in some dishes that I’m sure a certain percentage of people won’t like. I think it’s a natural human tendency to dislike things that are unfamiliar, especially with food. But I tend to pick up “acquired tastes” pretty quickly, so I really enjoy trying different foods from cultures around the world. And this place is one of my favorites. As a Philadelphian, I can admit It’s really hard to find delicious halal food in New Jersey but Zena’s is now my go-to place to order on the occasion I don’t feel like cooking. The gyro sandwich was much larger than I anticipated which is always a pleasant surprise. The pistachio baklava was AMAZING. My only complaint is that I wish I had more baklava haha but that’s just me being greedy! When I called to verify that the meat used in their kitchen was halal (and yes ALL meats used are halal), the man over the phone was very professional and kind. It was a few months ago that I went fyi. My pickup order didnt go through so they had to make it, only one employee was on duty and he wasn't all too professional, also while it isn't his fault he had a raspy voice that may make communications frustrating and he got angry when I asked him to speak up. When I first got there I said hello as he was in the back, got no response and I wandered around the desolate dining room until a minute later he whistled to me to come back to the counter (this is what I mean by unprofessional). We stopped here for dinner on a cold rainy night before a show at the Scottish Rite Auditorium, which is right around the corner. The small, unpretentious dining room was full of other concert goers enjoying the vegetarian sampler of falafel, grape leaves, hummus, baba ganoush, and more. That was way more food than our party of two could handle so we settled for a delicious mohammara appetizer that almost had us licking the plate clean. Was driving by and decided to stop and try them out. The restaurant is straightforward, with no frills. I tried their lamb schwarma sandwich. They offer Syrian style, which I prefer but only for chicken, unfortunately. The sandwich came out reaaaaallly tasty. I got the mini pizza. I wasn't too impressed with it. The guy at the counter was a little stand-offish with me, but we ended up having good convo by the time I left, so good for him. I MUST say the pepperoni on the pizza was probably the freshest pepperoni I've ever had before. I ate inside and there was Absolutely NO heat! Not very welcoming to customers. I really do like the food. Everything I've gotten has been delicious but the quality over the last year has been dwindling. The most troubling is that there always appears to only be one person preparing all of the orders every time I'm in there which may explain why the food hasn't been consistent and the wait times are long.<br><br>I still believe it's worth ordering from here. If zero stars was an option they would get it. I saw mice! It ran right between me and who I assume was the owner/mother and I know she saw it too, and she just went about her business. They told me the credit card machine was broken, which was false, only half the employees know how to use it. I was treated rudely, the food.... I was afraid to eat because of mice droppings. Not to mention the delivery woman was, at best, a few drinks inLong story short, this is a D grade establishment that is busy nickel and diming you, dropping dollars in the process. We ordered catered trays for a house party. The food was great and the ordering experience was super convenient through ezCater. I was able to call up ezCater to add more to my order the same day. The Greek and Middle Eastern items on the menu were much more superior to the American items such as the hoagie tray. My guests enjoyed the mini sandwiches which included a variety. However, like I said, the lamb gyro and chicken shawarma wraps were so much better than the tuna and American hoagies! We make sure we help our clients every way that fits their needs. We make them feels at home, as if they can. substitute something with something else and make adjustments that make the clients happy. We will suggest options that would be good for you, but the clients menu is based off of your needs and occasion.
What do you love most about your job?
What is loved here at work, is the feeling you get right after you drop off a 500 people Catering party trays, and you get a call back stating how great your food was and how every one loved It. This feeling is irreplaceable and is the best feeling in the world.
What inspired you to start your own business?
There was a gap for Mediterranean Catering in the area, I took this opportunity as a great one, and opened up my own restaurant which turned out to be a very successful restaurant, takeout and catering business.
